Terrible Network Management - Consistently dropping to 4G when though 5G has a faster connection

Consider a scenario, you’re entering a building. You checked the time. You saw “VoNR” and “5G+” working just fine. You entered the lift, the network dropped to “4G+” - okay, fair enough. Now, you’re at the roof - waited for 5 minutes, it should again switch back to 5G, right? Unfortunately, it doesn’t - at least 90% of the time.

I have to manually go and switch it to 4G and then 5G to get it to work.

sougaaat you can try 5g only mode…

Go to Google dialer> type start#star#4636#star#star > phone info> select phone0 or 1 for what slot are you using, scroll down there will be a drop down menu…select NR ONLY ….

This will force 5g mode…it will not switch to 4g in any case/scenario…

Stereobasic in india jio (service provider) gives unlimited internet access without FUP on 5g network only… for 4G its only 1.5GB or 2GB… if you’re switched to 4g your 1.5 gb /day will get used…People are used to use too much internet… 1.5GB will be used in like 2-3 hour…

sougaaat i facing the same issue since few days before update i have 5G showing all the time but now even I have 5G recharge and proper network coverage it drops to 4G.Then I have to turn on and off the airplane mode to again switch to 5G connection

Idk, but I’ve faced this issue only in blr, back in hyd, it was fine, it would drop to LTE and then come back to 5G once it received proper signal

ShashankMunnangi tbh, I have also noticed something similar. When I was in Kolkata, I didn’t face anything like that. But even if that’s the case, none of the other OEMs are facing such issues, including Xiaomi, Samsung, Oneplus and Apple. So, it must be something strange with Nothing - isn’t it?

Genuine question but for what kind of use you need to have 5G ? I’m in Paris in France and 4G do everything already very fast for every use like play, charging videos etc…, so i desactivated 5G because it’s just more battery drain for nothing valuable in real life use.

JP And if you do that, if you’re in an area where either 5G network isn’t available or extremely weak, you won’t be able to even make calls. The switch from 4G to 5G should be seamless which must be implemented by the OEM itself.

Stereobasic For me, it’s not just that. I don’t care about data usage. But as you could see in the video, the 4G speed is terrible - it doesn’t even load reddit. That’s why I’m continuously manually switching back to 5G.
