Since the latest update, my volume slider Since the latest update, my volume slider keeps popping up on its own. Also, when I try to scroll through my recently used apps, it snaps automatically to the first or last app and won’t let me stop anywhere in between.

Hi Nothing team & community,

After updating to Nothing OS 4.0 on my CMF Phone 2 Pro, I’ve noticed a strange audio behavior specifically on Instagram reels and stories.

What’s happening:

Suppose my system media volume is around 60%

I open Instagram and play a reel or story

The sound feels louder than expected, as if Instagram is playing at a higher internal volume than the system level

When I press the volume down button once, the system volume decreases only one step (for example from 60% → 55%),

but the perceived loudness drops much more, like it went from 60% → 40%

So it feels like:

Instagram’s internal volume is higher than the system volume, and pressing the volume button forces Instagram to suddenly sync down to the system level.

After the first volume adjustment, everything becomes normal and stays in sync.

Important notes:

This is not lag

Restarting the device does not fix it

No in-app volume control exists in Instagram

No adaptive / smart volume enabled

Tried toggling Disable Absolute Volume in Developer Options

Not yet confirmed whether this also happens on Bluetooth / TWS devices

Expected behavior:

Instagram audio should always start at the same loudness as the current system media volume, without requiring an adjustment.

Request:

Please check if this is an audio focus / volume synchronization bug introduced in NOS 4.0, specifically affecting Instagram or media apps.

Would appreciate if other CMF / Nothing users can confirm whether they are facing the same issue.

In the recent update, there were many bugs, and the camera quality was reportedly downgraded. Have these issues been fixed now?

I downgraded back to NOS 3.2 and am no longer on the current NOS 4.0 build.

The reason is that NOS 4.0 appears to have an internal bug affecting high refresh rate gaming. On the CMF Phone 2 Pro (120Hz panel), games should be capable of running at 120fps. However, while playing any game on NOS 4.0, the system drops to 60Hz during active touch input.

As soon as you interact with the screen, touch polling and frame output appear limited to 60Hz, effectively cutting performance in half during gameplay.

This behavior is consistent across games and seems to be system-level rather than game-specific, across all NOS 4.0 phones right now.

While my 3.2 build has a broken camera (software bugs you mentioned of) it does not have the 120Hz touch/input issue. I’m only using this device as a secondary/testing device to help the community better understand the differences between NOS 3.2 and 4.0. If 4.0 updates coming address the fix, I’d update.

From what I have seen, it is much more serviceable vs. the last HDR NOS 3.2 update. At the end of the day, it is a budget camera, so you’ll run into some images that could be better. Overall tho I have seen less and less complaints on the camera around here running NOS 4.0 compared to the last 3.2 updates. Also coming from a more daily user of the 3a, I really like NOS 4.0 and how fluid it feels. Also the 3a camera on NOS 4.0 is still good, just stinks for the most part in lowlight conditions. Overall, hopeful for the 120hz bug to be addressed in their next update! 😎

On NOS 4.0 (including CMF Phone 2 Pro), if you enable the refresh rate overlay in developer settings and touch the screen during gameplay, the panel drops to 60Hz immediately on input, then returns to 120Hz a second or two later. It’s reproducible and not game-specific.

If you’re able, could you try:

• Enabling Developer Options

• Turn on “Show refresh rate”

• Open a 120Hz-supported game

• Continuously drag on screen

You should see it bounce from 120 –> 60 –> 120 on touch input.

Would be helpful to confirm if you’re truly locked at 120 during sustained touch.
