CMF Power 65W GaN charger compatibility

Hi Community,

Good day, I recently bought the Nothing phone 3A and also bought a charger, 65 W GaN Charger I didnt know about the PPD so my phone charges OK not fast not slow, just OK, but is there something i should be worried about because I didnt get a PPD charger? Am I worried about nothing (pun not intended). Thank you.

arj3187 if you’re using any good brand charger, there is nothing to worry…

And it’s PPS protocol, all nothing phones use this protocol for charging…it is a one step up for PD3.0… it changes voltage and ampere to charge faster, efficient and keeps it cooler..

arj3187 Hey mate, nothing to worry about and your speed experience is to do with charging protocol.

Since the charger doesn’t have PPS, the phone and charger default to a “standard handshake” (USB-PD). They agree on a safe, speed which is usually around 15W to 25W.

arj3187 Actually all the CMF chargers is PD chargers and has PPS ranging from the 33 watt to the 100watt. (You can see it written on the inside part of the charger). I am also using the phone 3a and have tested the chargers and CMF 65w charges it the fastest even faster then the Nothing 45w charger.

You definitely are worried about nothing. That’s the best charger for your device.

Thank you everyone on this. It’s a big help to quell my worries. So I went back to the mall where I got my nothing phone 3a. Now apparently, the cable that comes with the phone is not compatible or can’t handle fast charging, that’s why it is only ordinary charging and not charging rapidly. The cable build has something to do with this. A good quality USB C to USB C cable that can handle 65W GaN charging is better. Going to go BACK, but I’m using my old oneplus red cable USB type A to USB C, with my GaN charger, and it can chargw rapidly. Anyways big thanks to all of you again.

Hi in terms of charging rapidly yes, but I’m using a different cable, not the included cable of the 3a.
