Screen quality and responsiveness - help

Hello, I've just bought this CMF Phone 1 less than two days ago and I have some concerns. First, is it normal for the screen to be not as black as the bezels surrounding it when it's off? It's greyish when the screen is off at multiple angles. This is rather uncharacteristic for an AMOLED display, it looks more like an LCD display (even though it is for sure an AMOLED). Even my Xiaomi phone with an LCD screen has better blacks when it's off. My Moto G Stylus 2025, which also has an AMOLED display, has near indistinguishable blacks. Secondly, the pinhole camera is ever so slightly off. I will attach pictures of all of this for reference. Look at the right edge. There are no screen protectors, and I've removed the factory installed one as well. Third, the screen responsiveness is very weird. For micro-movements and micro-scrolling (or even scrolling in general), it doesn't respond as well as the other AMOLED devices I've used. It's somewhat inconsistent (it's sometimes fine and sometimes not) and kind of "sluggish" for the lack of a better word (or it lags behind just by a bit before responding). Even when typing this, when I have to scroll little by little, I can feel it. I’m using CMF from 2024, I haven’t got any issue with the display, it’s good and works great with games and watching movies.

Only some users says that they have some green colour issue with the display.

SnapDark Can you please test and check (like how I did if possible, or just by feel) if you have any touch/micro-scrolling issues like what I’m facing at all. That’s pretty much the main thing I am concerned about.

JP I’m on the latest NothingOS, btw. NOS4.0. It’s not unbearable but, yeah it exists. I can even send a video comparison when I’m free for more clarity, I guess. Also, I haven’t experienced the touch registering when swiping.

RayyanMasood ohh… ohk.. there are issues people mentioned about latest update…but I’ve not encouraged any with latest update…you can update…

And what version are you currently on?

JP I’m on NOS4.0, Android 16. The last major update this phone will officially receive. I’ve tried to pinpoint the issue, and it seems like it’s some type of touch rejection/dampening for micro-scrolling.

As you can see in the comparison below (blue is the Moto, brown is the CMF), there’s a lot more definition being caught in the Moto than in the CMF with the same amount of movement replicated to the best of my ability. Now, I’m not sure if this is because of the quality of the panel or if it’s because of the software, or both. But, I can’t seem to figure out any way to fix it, if it even can be fixed.

Cna you your cmf ph1 has lock glimpse or not??i think they removed it completely

JP why would this be the case if the versions are the same? Could it be because of a difference in models? Mine is the international variant (INTL)

I disabled it via adb when it got introduced first…and removed triggers for that .. apparantly pressing power button and screen wake up tries to start lock glimpse everytime…

At that time it was still present in settings menu…

I removed apps on my old phone via adb…and it doesn’t remove that option in settings>lock screen>lock glimpse menu…

but it is completely removed now on cmf phone1 🤔

I was looking for something and i noticed that there is no lock glimpse in settings…i searched it in all apps … i even searched it with adb and i couldn’t find it…

So i came here to ask people what’s happening…and you and the other person i asked both have that lock glimpse still … 🤔

RayyanMasood No brother. Not an issue for me, if it’s in warranty show it to the service centre Link. They might help. By replacing any part.

The nothing service center in India, provides free battery replacement, on screen replacement.
