Low call volume + weak audio on Nothing Phone (3) - help

DocYBA Tested with OnePlus 13R and Vivo X200T using Apple USB-C Earphones and OnePlus Nord 3.5 mm earphones with a OnePlus Type-C adapter. Volume is higher on both phones, so the earphones are fine. The issue appears to be with the phone’s audio tuning/output..

RawVkiran may be as I said I haven’t tried with other phones but may be due to lack of any kind of sound Equalizer built into nothing OS so it could be or they haven’t tested with other phones? software team show test it

Same problem here on Phone 3. When on a call in loudspeaker, the volume buttons don’t seem to affect the call. Also, none of the sliders that pop up on the screen work for the call either.

Got NP3 last week and I’m facing same issue with microphone audio when making phone calls. My voice to the other party is inconstant. Randomly increases and decreases, making it difficult for the other person to hear. However, audio in recorder app, whatsapp calling and video recording is loud and clear so its not the hardware problem with mic. After doing some research, I came to know that its something to do with noise cancellation but there is no option to disable. I have updated the OS to latest but no change. Hopefully Nothing will fix this issue asap.

ashokram The best way is for each member to report using settings-> system -> feedback.

Daniel done reporting went to sc and they took the logs and sent email to the backend team it’s been 2 months since I had done all these but no response from nothing

ChaitanyaSaha_wLIOTuM3Bi I too felt this. Even though the audio levels are high still couldn’t hear it at all. The volume was too low for nrml calls. Earpiece and speaker both felt like that for me

Hello, Can anyone with Nothing Phone (3) test this for me please? Dial *#*#9#*#* and it will take you to Nothing diagnostics. Click get started -> audio & microphones -> microphones -> start

First it will play ringtone in high volume (don’t get scared) and record at the same time then plays the recorded audio for you to hear. NP3 has 3 mics so it will test one by one and each time it’ll ask you if the audio is normal or low or no sound. Report will be generated at the end. If you click normal for all mics then it’ll be passed.

I want to know whether all three mics have same volume level or does any one has low sound? In my phone main mic is low, 2nd mic is high and 3rd is medium. Please check on your phone and let me know. Thanks…

checked just now same 2nd and 3rd felt low compared to 1st one

ashokram Thanks for checking. Mine has low volume in 1st mic whereas 2nd and 3rd are high. Do you also have issue with mic during calls? If more people test this then we’ll know if its hardware or software fault.

CRACING I got it as it’s quite opposite to you and even I had low volume issue on calls don’t know how does it decide or on what factors some calls it’s very low even on loud speaker i still struggle to hear it I had nothing phone one prior to this it’s perfect in every corner, i had visited to the service centre and they collected the logs and it’s been 3 months no feedback nothing nothing had worst customer support they are good a replacements but they don’t provide proper bugs fixed and they don’t acknowledge issue very bad at it

ashokram Yeah its opposite but still we are facing mic issue in calls so I believe its related to noise cancellation. ANC is built into system level so it applies to diagnostics app also and option to disable is removed. My brother has 2A plus and it doesn’t have this issue. Its a nice solid phone hence I upgraded to same brand. Everything else is great, especially the stereo speakers are wonderful.

I have also visited service center and first they said its normal but later when I argued they said phone must be disassembled to replace mic module and there is no guarantee that it will fix. My phone is fairly new so opening it hurts me so I declined their resolution for now. Whereas Amazon wanted a letter from SC to provide replacement but SC won’t give up unless they cannot fix it and by then 10 days return policy got ended.

I hope this issue gets resolved in the further updates or version 5 otherwise I may have to get mic replaced.

CRACING got you my phone will complete 1 year after this month it’s been long time nothing just left out most of the phone 3 users in vain and I had screen burn and ghost issue now I won’t buy nothing phone again it’s done they simply left us ignored most of the users who complained will be out of warranty sadly by sep end some already out of warranty, this is regarding the screen issues there are 2 threads out there in this same community, just got ignored for investing time and money for their product 🤡🤦🏼

ashokram Hmm, thats very disappointing. Phones are getting expensive whereas companies don’t bother with issues. They just keep launching new phones and forget old ones. Reliability, quality control, value for money and good after-sales service is rare to find these days. My previous phone was Asus Zenfone 6 and it was rock solid for 6 years! Recently its battery got bloated and no genuine battery is available so I had to upgrade. I hope you will get a better phone next time.

Zac 🛸 did this long back ago went to sc and they had recorded for the testimonials and I had submitted logs, basically we lost trust from the nothing support team due to lack of feedback or responsiveness, done with everything only thing left is to switch the brand.

Zac 🛸 Thanks for your support. I have already submitted feedback and got reply to troubleshoot, such as installing latest update, switching networks, changing sim, removing 3rd party accessories, factory reset and etc. None of these helped resolve issue with microphone.
