Nothing has, since the beginning, talked about focusing on developing and producing other cool tech products besides smartphones, but that they first needed to lay the foundation for their brand. Today I came across a really cool product that TE made eight years ago but that was never launched. An AI robot! I’m dying of admiration for how awesome and incredibly dynamic it is in the way it moves and expresses itself, and the design is magical. It’s absolutely insane that TE never managed to launch such an amazing product.
But! This is the perfect opportunity for Teenage Engineering to bring this product back in collaboration with Nothing. It would hit so hard. This is what we all want and demand to have in our homes.
Raven R was a futuristic robotic home assistant developed in 2017 in a collaboration between the Swedish company Teenage Engineering and the Chinese company Baidu.
It was intended to be a smart speaker with built in AI that could talk to the user, display facial expressions on a small screen, and move using several motorized joints. The idea was that it would not just be a voice assistant, but feel more like a small personal robot in the home and help you turn on music, movies, lights and so on as part of a smart home system.
Raven was presented as a concept and technology demo rather than a finished consumer product. It was never officially launched or sold commercially, which is why many people have never heard of it.
