Personally, I rarely put my phone face down anywhere because my phone is on a charging dock most of the time. So the glyphs are useless to me atm.
There are two problems with current charging docks:
- Wireless charging doesn’t work if you put the phone screen-down.
- USB-C docks are cheap and small so the screen rubs on the dock because it is wider than the dock.
NOTHING needs to find ways to make those glyphs visible at all times.
I’ve taken to setting my phone to max charge to 80% because I charge so frequently. So until there’s a solution there’s no point upgrading from CMF 2 for me because I’ll never see the glyphs anyway.
It’s also a market ripe for the picking. I’d love to have a NOTHING dock and would pay a premium to see their sexy design on my desk compared to the cheap Chinese options that are around. There are so few decent USB-C docks, and to display the glyphs there’s really only USB-C as an option. They’re mostly all the same and are very light and cheap so modern large phones barely stay standing.
