There is something seriously wrong with the Nothing Phone 2 and Nothing OS 4+
Since updating I, and many others, have had issues with crashes and wifi being greyed out, forcing us to restart our phones over and over again. So far, Nothing has been quiet on this issue. My communications with support was to factory reset my phone.
Note for tech companies: factory reset is not a valid troubleshooting step. Stop pretending it is!
Long story short, Luckily, I was able to get my hands on another phone and make a backup. I need reflashed the latest Nothing OS but still had Wifi and crashdump issues. I have reflashed my phone around multiple times, using different iterations of the 4.0 firmware each time. Yet I still have the Wifi and crashdump issues. When it came to setting up my phone after a reflash, I couldn’t because it wouldn’t be able to find any wifi.
Now, before anyone says that something is wrong with the phones hardware or its damaged in any way, no it isn’t. I know this because after the first failed attempt at reflashing Nothing OS 4, I installed Lineage OS. Guess what? It worked perfectly. No wifi drops out, no crashdumps, I could restart my phone and power it off but the wifi would still work — everything was perfect.
Something is seriously wrong with Nothing OS 4 on Nothing Phone 2 (and others too, I’ve seen people complain about the same issues). This phone is less than three years old and now have a software unable to support it.
I’m going to keep trying — going further back in to the firmware archive to see when the issue is resolved.
Again, I need to repeat this for tech companies: factory reset is not a valid troubleshooting step. Stop pretending it is!
Please fix this nonsense.
