Switched from iPhone to Nothing — the transfer process is still a nightmare in 2026

Just made the switch from iPhone to my Nothing Phone 3a Pro a while back and honestly love it. But getting here? Pain.

The actual transfer process is embarrassing for 2026 standards. Cable required, half your data ends up missing, WhatsApp history gone, had to reinstall every single app manually. Took me the better part of a day to feel “at home” on the new phone.

And I know I’m not alone — every time someone posts “just switched from iPhone” the comments are full of the same story.

What killed you most when you switched? Was it:

Contacts/WhatsApp history

Photos being a mess

Having to set everything up from scratch

The cable requirement when everything else is wireless now

Asking because I’m genuinely thinking about building something to fix this. Would love to know what hurt the most for you guys. 👇

fabianguenther08 It is not Nothing’s fault for this issue, Android seems very incompetent when transferring data from iPhone (probs due to ecosystem), and that Apple tries to make the process tedious for iPhone users so that instead of going through the hassle of switching, you stay with Apple instead.

This was the same with AirDrop, which Google has now added support for in Quick Share (Nothing’s CEO Carl Pei said a few months back that this was coming up in the next NOS update, 4.1 or 5 I think.).
