I’ve been daily-driving the Nothing Phone (4a) (Black) for over a week. Hope this will help —including a huge update that just changed the camera game!

1. The “Showstopper” Design & Build
Go Caseless: I’ve been using this phone without a case. The black transparent finish is incredibly premium. Glyph bar really strikes with notifications, It’s a total head-turner; I’ve had strangers stop and ask me about it!
Wide & Bright: The 6.78-inch screen is a beast and perfectly visible in direct sunlight. However, it’s a wider frame than most. If you have small hands, one-handed use is tough. But for gaming and movies, this wider ratio is a dream.
2. The Camera: Pro Zoom vs. Focusing Struggles
After 8 days, the camera is a mixed bag of “Flagship Zoom” and “Mid-range quirks.”
The Killer Zoom: The 3.5x Telephoto is the best in this price range. Even at 20x zoom, shots are sharp and genuinely useful.

Macro photography:- one of the strong point, in my device it’s a struggle for me, but when it finds that sweet point it’s strong( can be fix with updates)

The Focus Problem: It struggles to lock focus quickly, especially for closeup shots & In low light, it “hunts” for focus constantly, and the “touch-to-focus” is noticeably laggy.
Natural (Not Punchy): Colors are less saturated and more natural than the Phone (3). They aren’t “social media ready” means less Ai—they lack that vibrant “pop” found in other brands.
The 8MP Weak Link: The Ultra-wide is just “usable.”
3. The Video Situation (UPDATED!)
When I first got the phone, video was locked at 1080p. After the latest update, 4K video is finally here!
You still cannot use the ultra-wide camera in video mode. There isn’t even an option to switch to it once you hit record.
4. Performance & Battery Reality
Nothing OS 4.1 is buttery smooth. Zero lag and no overheating.
The Battery: For normal usage, it easily covers your whole day. However, for heavy users (for me heavy camera use), you will need to charge it by the end of the day.
Verdict:- A very good device, need to unlock full capabilities with updates.
