Feature Request Live Heart Rate Data API and BLE Broadcast for CMF Watch Series
To the CMF and Nothing Product Development Team
I am a big fan of the CMF brand and currently use the CMF Watch 3 Pro. While the hardware and design are outstanding, I believe there is a massive untapped potential regarding data accessibility, specifically live heart rate data.
Currently the CMF ecosystem is closed off for realtime data extraction. I would love to suggest implementing a standard interface for this.
Regarding the technical request, please consider adding one of the following two options in a future software update.
Standard BLE Broadcast. This would be an option in the watch settings to broadcast heart rate over standard Bluetooth Low Energy, allowing third party devices or PCs to connect to the watch as a standard heart rate monitor.
Local app API, like WebSockets or REST. This would be an API within the CMF phone app that allows developers to fetch live heart rate data locally via a network stream while the watch is connected.
I want to highlight the value proposition for the streaming community and CMF. I am a streamer myself and fall exactly into the target audience that heavily uses live heart rate integrations like Pulsoid to display our pulse on screen during horror games or competitive games. Right now we are forced to rely on uncomfortable external chest straps.
I would love to dive into my own DIY projects and write custom scripts just to perfectly integrate my CMF Watch into my stream overlay. If the watch supported this data output natively, it would instantly become a highly attractive and comfortable alternative for the entire global streaming community.
While it would be absolutely amazing to have this as a free standard feature for everyone, I completely understand the business side of things. Theoretically you could offer this developer API or live broadcast capability as an optional premium feature within the app or behind a small power user unlock fee. Many users would gladly pay for official and reliable data access.
By implementing this, CMF would bridge the gap between a standard fitness tracker and a powerful tool for the creator economy.
Thank you for your time and for continuing to build great products. I would love to see this idea discussed within your product team.
Best regards
Cloaki (Paul) 😉
