edge (a) — controlled aggression
I’ve been testing this EQ on the Headphone (a) and yeah…this one’s for metal / alt.
What I’m hearing:
— guitars stay layered instead of turning into a wall
— double kick is tight, not rumbling
— cymbals hit but don’t turn into white noise
— vocals (cleans + growls) stay separate even in dense sections
Tracks I used:
— Spiritbox “Silk in the Strings”
— Spiritbox “Circle With Me”
— Bad Omens “Specter”
— Maphra “Doomed”
The biggest thing:
this should sound chaotic…but it doesn’t
you can actually follow everything without the mix collapsing
No extreme boosts
No sharp peaks
Everything is small, wide, and working together
If you try it:
listen for separation during fast sections
that’s where this EQ really shows itself
