Hi community,
I have already sent this same report to Nothing Support via email over 3 weeks ago to no reply, so I thought I would post something here to get attention to this issue as it is really taking away from the smoothness that we all know and love from Nothing OS and particularly, Nothing Launcher.
I have a Phone (3a) on the latest version for both Nothing OS and the Nothing Launcher as of writing this post (30 March 2026). I have been facing an issue with the opening animation of TikTok (and sometimes Reddit and Firefox as well) where when I’m opening it from RAM by touching the app icon on my home screen it freezes, shows the app icon again and jumps back into the app.
I strongly believe this is an issue with the Nothing Launcher because:
- It does not happen with any other app except these three, and it only happens sometimes (very randomly) even for these three
- It doesn’t happen when the app is restarting (not continuing from a previous instance stored in RAM)
I’ve tried everything such as clearing cache, rebooting phone several times and even reinstalling the apps all in vain. I even tried installing Smart Launcher 6 to see if the issue would persist (first time I even stepped foot in anything other than Nothing Launcher) and this issue did not exist there at all.
Everything I have mentioned above is in the attached screen recording, including opening TikTok several times where the glitch didn’t always happen, then switching to Smart Launcher where the glitch never happened. I didn’t show Reddit or Firefox because it’s rarer and it’s the same logic as TikTok in terms of how it happens. I’d say I’m lucky to even have caught this one on camera due to how random it is. Sometimes it happens, other times it doesn’t happen and the app opens normally.
Would love to hear whether others have been facing this issue, but mainly trying to get the attention of developers. I’m sure this is an issue that can be fixed very easily with an update to the Nothing Launcher as it is not happening in something like Smart Launcher as mentioned above.
