“Better” is fairly subjective 😅
A tempered glass protector surely provides better protection, keeps that glass feeling of the actual screen and also has little to no impact on screen quality.
Most matte protectors are plastic films, so they don’t offer as much protection from impacts as a tempered glass one. Due to the matte finish they have a paper like surface, which I prefer over glass, however they do impact the display quality due to the matte surface. They greatly reduce reflections and in my opinion make the screen easier to read overall. They also are very resistent against fingerprints and smudges get cleaned more easily.
It really depends on your own taste which one is better suited for you. Personally I have been using a matte protector on my NP3 since a few months already and so far haven’t changed it back for a tempered glass one.
