Huawei Health App Download

Hi everyone I’m hoping someone here can help because I’m going round in circles with this. I’ve got a Nothing Phone 3a and I’m trying to install the Huawei Health app so I can pair my old Magic Watch 2. I’ve tried every method I can find online — different browsers, different file managers, renaming the APK, changing security settings, “install anyway”, you name it. Nothing OS keeps blocking the install or hiding the file completely. I’m not very techie, so I’m probably missing something obvious. I can see that some people here *have* managed to install Huawei Health on the 3a, so I’m hoping someone can explain it in simple, step‑by‑step instructions that actually work on this phone. If anyone has successfully installed Huawei Health on a Nothing Phone 3a, could you please share how you did it, step by step? I’d really appreciate it. Thanks in advance!

Hi. Can I ask - have you managed to install it? I tried the other day with ChatGPT walking me through, but whatever I tried I hit a wall. I just tried again. First I switched off Device Protection. Next I went onto the Huawei website via Chrome on my phone and downloaded the app. I went into ‘Downloads’ in Google files and tried to install it. I get the message ’App blocked by advanced protection.

KevinCrome it’s not nothing it’s Google play protect acting, just go to Google Play Store and turn off play protect from the settings on profile. Just pause it for now and install the app and it will turn back on later, won’t recommend switching it off completely

Thanks for your reply. The toggle to turn off play protect is faded so I cannot switch it off…

Turn off advanced protection, search for it in settings.

I have already switched off Device Protection in the Advanced Protection setting. Should I do something more?

KevinCrome if im not wrong advanced protection has device protection and account protection, the device one is a toggle and the account one you have to enroll, so you probably might have enrolled and will need to un-enroll. Alternatively you can try a different Google account, just log out from the current one, login through a different account, do the steps I said previously and it should work

KevinCrome Have you tried installing via the Huawei app store? I think you can install the Huawei app store via the Huawei website. If the Huawei app store installs then use that to install Huawei Health. I haven’t tried to see if this is possible but it might be. Good luck.

Thanks. I’ve just un-enrolled from Advanced Protection in my Google account, which as you say, is separate from Device Protection in the device settings. I’ve also done a force stop of the Google Play app. I’ve read that it can take up to 24 hours for these protections to stop so I’ll let you know.
UPDATE
I waited a few hours, then managed to install Huawei App Gallery, then HMS Core, then finally Huawei Health App.
