Can phones bought in US be activated outside the country?

Hello,

I am wondering whether a Nothing phone(2) and a Nothing phone(2a) bought inside US and never activated be carried to India and be activated with Indian SIM cards.

I wanted to buy Nothing devices for my family in India but on Reddit, I found discussions on a ‘Region Lock’ aspect

Can this issue rather be overridden simply by calling Customer Support in India?
