Hello everyone, I’ve been using the Nothing Phone 1 for the past 3 years and it’s recently developed a frustrating issue — the phone shuts itself down while using any resource-intensive apps.
Here’s what I’ve done so far:
Factory reset — issue persisted
Took it to the Nothing service centre — they said they couldn’t replicate the issue and flashed it back to an older OS, suspecting an update glitch
Worked fine for a few days after the flash
Once I restored my backups and started daily use again, the shutdowns returned
A few observations:
It only happens under load (while browsing the app for sometime it shuts down I had gamed on it for 5 hours no issue but when I opened amazon it shuts down, it also shuts down when using other apps like myntra, flipkart…just browsing and it just shuts itself down, one peculiar thing i noticed is that it just freezes the app before shutting itself down)
[Does the phone get hot before it shuts down? no the last time it shut down was when I was browsing amazon for some products]
[Does it fully shut down or reboot? It shuts down)
Current OS version: Android 15
Battery health: [fine holds sufficient charge]
I tend to keep my phones for years — my Asus ZenFone 5Z still works after all these years — so this failing at year 3 is really disappointing.
Could this be a battery degradation issue where the cell can’t deliver enough current under sustained load? Has anyone experienced something similar or had luck with a battery replacement?
One final thing yes the battery has enough charge as well it even once shut itself down at 95% battery charge.
Any help appreciated.
