Catcar38 I was using the (4a) caseless during my time reviewing it and had no noticeable scratches. In fact, every device I have had I never wear a case. I think it all depends on how you handle and manage your phones. Mostly, my device is either in my pocket or on my desk, so scratches will naturally be a minimum. A lot of people prefer a case, just to keep it as pristine as possible. My belief is that a phone is designed to withstand severe scratches and bumps. Also, I want to show off the design and feel the device properly.
