Replace the name “Nothing” with iPhone. What do you see when you compare it to the real iPhone?
You might think that if iPhone created such a phone, it would look cool, with the glyph matrix especially. What if the iPhone had that type-of-thinking) It would be really cool. I know some people would disagree with me but people would still go crazy for an iPhone with a Glyph Widget. They only go crazy for it because it is an iPhone, NOT because it is a good quality phone subconsciously without careful consideration if it really is a very good iPhone for your needs, rather than just buying it for their processing power.
Now replace it with Samsung and imagine Samsung creating a Nothing Phone in that design. Would you still buy it?
Some people would say it is a design revolution at Samsung, and that they have thought out of the box to stand out with such a quality phone.
Now finally replace “Nothing” with Xiaomi. Imagine if Xiaomi created a phone like that with hardware and software like that. People would go crazy over it because it is something new they have never seen.
But honestly, this proves how the current phone market have lost their passion for at-least CARING about what a budget phone should look like and feel like in terms of hardware and software, what a midrange phone should look like and feel like in terms of [hardware and software], and how a flagship should look like and feel like when the creators put NECESSARY things that are enough for a user to have in a smartphone.
Carl Pei is right from the beginning. Phones have lost passion in caring about their hardware and software at each price level. That also includes their operating system, UI and some quirky features that would be cool on a phone, ESPECIALLY on the backside of the phone.
Nothing changes that. One thing that they have made me happy about is actually giving CARE to the Android operating system because many developers (especially open source ones) don’t give enough care on their Android Apps as much as they care about iPhone. And that sucks because android apps are always treated as an afterthought. But I think that can change soon. Its juts a matter of making your app look better even for android users because that is where YOU as the developer advertise your business, your app icon, Ui and everything else on an Android operating system is a billboard for others to look over and see. At-least if Nothing cares about making their software as good as their hardware, we, software developers should even put the same level of care, if not more, into our apps when they are used by Nothing Phone users and the rest of the Android users.
Don’t treat your app on Android as an afterthought, just because Google never cares about their operating system that much. At-least follow Nothing design guidelines on what it means to actually CARE about android users, even if they are seen as poor people.
Over time, with enough care, more users will start to use Nothing phones because it shows how much time Carl Pei’s team has put so much care for many years in giving their users the best experience of WHAT ANDROID IS SUPPOSED TO BE on a Nothing device. I care enough and that is what I am going to do when I launch my own apps on Nothing devices, because they care enough to make an Android Experience that shows that there is enough CARE to care about when using their products. Thank You Nothing Team and Carl Pei for making an Amazing Android Phone that has CARE in it, especially with the software you have just made. No other Android device is willing to make good products at every price segment except for you guys. Thank you.
