I came across a Japanese article about the release of a new Smartphone called the Natural AI Phone, but I haven’t seen any discussions on it so I thought I would share.
From my brief research, it seems like the device is made by a US start-up AI company called Brain Technologies, and sold only through the network provider SoftBank.
Definately not a name we’ve heard of. So how were they able to develop a smartphone from nothing and sell it to the masses?

My first reaction to the image was that it could justs be that they took inspiration, but no, that is the exact same body dimention wise. I remember the Nothing designers talking about how they made the cameras of the 2a and 3a phones line-up when put next to each other. Now this one lines up too?
Another giveaway is the Essential Space button. That same slightly contriversial position, and importantly still exsiting.
But it doesnt stop there, because even the specs is basically exactly the same: both Snapdragon 7s Gen 3, both have same spec cameras and batteries, and the weight is 200g and 201g. Assuming the screen size was rounded down, every spec, even the chip is the same.
And then the worst offender of them all: Pressing the Essential Space button takes you to a feature they call “FocusSpace”, which seems to have a pretty similar functionality to the Nothing counterpart.

I am baffalled. The article concludes the phones are most likely made by the same manufacturer.
Yes there are some changes to the rear design, but I dont think I’ve seen anything like this before. Sort of reminded me of the Escobar Phone.
And by the way it sells for twice the price of a 3a.
