So… I was wrong about them actively working on the display issues in 4.1.
I went through the NOS 4.1 files available on the Nothing archive, and unfortunately, the situation doesn’t look great. The display problems (especially the green/brown tint at low brightness) seem like they’ll take significantly longer to fix than many of us hoped, even after repeated reports through system feedback and community channels.
In simple terms:
The display hardware is very capable ✅
The software experience is smooth ✅
But the HAL layer (specifically the LHBM algorithm in the display library) is not properly tuned for this hardware. It looks like it’s mostly falling back to the vendor’s default values.
To get a soultion for these issues, anyone who would be working on the LHBM issue, would need a hardware device known as colorimeter to properly tune the gamut.
PS-1: This is mostly speculation based on the accessible layers I could check. The algorithm might exist but could be buried in inaccessible layers, so I could be wrong.
PS-2: I am only talking about the green tint and the brightness issues.
