I’ve been experimenting with the Nothing Phone 4a Pro and its Matrix LED interface. I wanted to see if I could turn the back of the phone into a real-time, physical sound visualizer—so I built the Glyph Decibel Meter.
It’s a simple, quirky tool: the louder your environment, the more the Matrix fills up and pulses. I initially thought of it as a utility for my own daily life, but it’s honestly just satisfying to watch the LEDs react to music, conversation, or even just ambient city noise.
The Tech Stuff:
Specifically optimized for the 4a Pro Matrix resolution.
Built using the Nothing Glyph Developer Kit.
Minimalist UI to keep the focus on the hardware lights.
Widget to toggle it on/off
Flip to glyph option
4 different visual options: Bar level, wave form, expanding bubble, and star field
I need your help! I’m in the final stages of bringing this to the Google Play Store, but as a personal developer, I have to clear the “14-day gauntlet”—Google requires 12 dedicated testers to use the app for two weeks before it can go live.
If you have a 4a Pro and want to test a new way to use your Glyphs:
Drop a comment below or DM me.
I’ll add you to the Closed Testing group on the Play Console.
P.S. to the Nothing Team/Mods: I’m also looking for the current path to request a Production API Key. I’ve been running this in debug mode for now, but I’d love to get a permanent key so my testers don’t have to mess with ADB commands. Any leads would be huge!
Can’t wait to hear what you guys think.
