Turning AI Apps/Services Off - Help

I have a Nothing Phone (3) running OS 4.1 and I am trying to disable and/or remove all the unwanted AI garbage that keeps being added to the OS. Latest is the annoying Essential Voice Recorder which I do not want, and want removed from the keyboard at the very least so I can use the keyboard correctly. Placing it over the ability to minimise the keyboard is a very stupid design decision.

I have looked through articles and the forum and I do not have any of the supposed solutions available on my phone. I understand we’re stuck with the utterly pointless Essential apps, but even when I disable them, nothing changes and I can see the cache numbers going up.

Please advise the best way to go about troubleshooting this as at this stage if I don’t have the ability to opt out of AI by at the very least turning the damn apps off in a way that isn’t clearly still doing things, I will opt out of the devices and so will my business.

Any support is greatly appreciated.

Acheron9 Nothing OS doesn’t fully disable system apps. They keep running in background. Try to restart the device. Then go to Developer Options > Background Process Limit > No background processes. If still app is running in background then rollback with the help of tecnision.

Jaikify thank you for taking the time to reply. I thought that may be the case, and thanks for directing me to where that option is. I’ll give it a shot and see if it makes any difference. I’m still hoping for a fix on the keyboard issue, but let’s see what happens.

You can remove the keyboard button in settings, Intelligence Toolkit, Essential Voice, Try it Out, then uncheck “Show Keyboard Button”.

I use it often, so I’ve kept it on the keyboard, but following that path should get you back to having the minimize buton.

RedBoltDesign thanks for the reply. I don’t have that option in the toolkit (screenshot attached). Nothing changes whether the app is enabled or disabled as well.
