As a huge lover of compact phones and Nothing’s design philosophy, I wondered: why not introduce a compact smartphone into Nothing’s lineup, capturing a market segment currently left completely untouched by other brands? The starting idea is clear: a compact phone that doesn’t compromise on performance.
This is how I began developing this concept, building heavily on the foundation of the Nothing Phone (4a) to introduce a brand-new segment within that specific product line.
The smartphone features dimensions of 146 mm in height, 69 mm in width, and 7.7 mm in depth, maintaining an excellent aspect ratio alongside a 6.1-inch screen. Additionally, there will be a camera bump with a thickness of 1.8 mm.
It will be powered by a Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 (4nm) processor.
As mentioned, the display will be a 6.1-inch flexible AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate.
When it comes to the battery, it should be possible to fit a 4000 mAh cell. While this might seem slightly low by modern smartphone standards, for a compact device, it represents the best and most feasible compromise.
The camera setup will include a 50 MP main rear camera, a 50 MP ultra-wide lens, and a 50 MP front-facing camera.
In the top right corner, a Glyph Matrix identical to the one on the Phone (4a) will be present, preserving Nothing’s iconic brand identity.
The operating system will be Nothing OS 4.1, based on Android 16.
The chassis will be entirely made of aluminum.
This is just a rough idea, but personally, it’s something I would absolutely love to see, especially since I have been wishing for a compact smartphone for at least 5 years now, an option that currently feels non-existent on the market. I have included a couple of pictures just to give an idea of the design I have in mind. As I said before, it is essentially identical to the Phone (4a) because the goal is to integrate it seamlessly into that exact segment
