I knew nothing was cooking something or there was a problem with the playground as nothing new arrived but this i mean iam already in love with this man looks so cool and i have a nothing phone 4 a pro and didn’t recieve the access but i hope i do soon really loooking forward to it

I recently saw several posts on X (Twitter) mentioning that the Nothing Esential Apps are now available on the Google Play Store. Earlier, these apps were only accessible through the web (using Chrome or other browsers), so I installed them from the Play Store to try them on my Nothing Phone (2) running Nothing OS 4.1

However, the app doesn’t work. It immediately shows the following error:

“AiWidget is installed but too old to connect to – its preview service didn’t respond. Please update AiWidget and restart.”

I have already tried:

Restarting the phone
Reinstalling the app

The issue still persists.

I also noticed that I couldn’t find any official announcement or release post on the Nothing Community about the Essential Apps being available on the Play Store. So I’m wondering:

Is this Play Store release official?

Are the Essential Apps currently supported on Nothing Phone (2)?

Is there a newer AiWidget version that hasn’t been released yet?

Or is this simply a bug?

Has anyone else experienced the same issue? It would be great if the Nothing team could clarify the current status and provide a fix if needed.

jamshi993 Most likely due to the fact that in order for the app to support your Phone 2, it needs a new software update published by Nothing to allow the app to integrate with the system.

jamshi993 S_Griff bro you need to manually update the essential apps ( not the app which you downloaded from play store) thare is an another system app call essential apps on your system which is part of Nothing OS 4.1 and you need to manually update it by downloading an apk from an nothing official website.

But to get access to that website, first you have to be selected for the nothing playground beta, which was happened at the time when they firstly launched nothing playground, and if you have been selected by them, then you will receive an official mail, with the download link of the essential apps apk. And after that you can use the app completely fine.

which parts of the phone’s OS are currently accessible? so far i haven’t been able to create notification widgets, theme colors and system information like app usage metrics
