Almost a month ago, 2.0 rebuilt everything behind the glass. 2.1 is about what you put on it: a completely redesigned editor, four new effects, and alerts that know what matters.
New here? Glyph Museum lets you browse, create and share designs for the Glyph Matrix on Phone (3) and Phone (4a) Pro. Put them on your AOD, widgets and Glyph Toys, or make them light up right when things happen on your phone: unlocking, charging, volume, camera and more. Get it on Google Play.
Here’s what’s new.

🎨 A completely redesigned editor
The editor had barely changed since the app’s first versions. 2.1 rebuilds it from scratch with a better layout, more tools and more options: more power for anyone who wants to take their creativity to the Matrix.
The new layout keeps everything at hand. Switching tools and modes is one tap in the dock, and a dynamic row right above your frames shows the main options for whatever you have armed. Tap that same dock chip again and the rest opens up: the full settings for that tool, like the brush’s brightness palette.
Two changes matter more than they sound:
- Zoom. Working pixel by pixel on Phone (3)'s denser grid is finally comfortable.
- History. Undo now groups almost every action, so one step back does what you expect.
On top of that: onion skin while you draw, frame multi-select for reordering and retiming several frames at once, and text, emoji, image and GIF imports placed right on the LED disc.

Exporting is now one menu across the whole app. Posts, saves and your own projects share the same sheet, and any design can leave as an image, a GIF or a JSON file. Three presets cover most cases (Default, Essential, and a new Glyph Toy style), with an Advanced section for the dials: LED gap, corners, margins, colors and brightness range.

🎇 Four new effects, and two new options
- Alarm. A new trigger for alarms and timers, so your own animation shows up when one goes off. (supporter)
- Carousel. Several designs and animations living on a single frame. It’s especially good on Phone (4a) Pro, which doesn’t get the OS system for cycling through multiple frames. (supporter)
- In-call. Show the design and animation you want for the length of a call. (supporter)
- Range. Pick which brightness range your design shows. It’s the hardest one to get at first glance, and it clicks the moment you run into a design with a background sitting at very low or very high values: you can fix it right there instead of going through the editor. Free for everyone.

Two effects you already know also learned new tricks:
- Charging ring. The charging effect can now show your battery level around your chosen animation, so you get charge progress and a custom design at the same time.
- Sticker mode. In the invert effect (and as an editor action), this new mode is perfect for turning outlined designs into a sticker format.

All of it is easier to find, too: the effect selector has been redesigned, with sections that split effects by utilities and actions, and new tutorials that use device-specific visuals plus a short explanation of how each effect works, its details and some of its options.
🔔 Alerts that know what matters
Notifications marked as essential can now be ordered by priority. If something important comes in and a less relevant notification lands right after it, the one that matters doesn’t get pushed off the Matrix.
Creating alerts got better as well:
- Suggestions built from your recent notifications.
- Target a specific conversation.
- Target specific notifications from an app instead of everything it sends.
- Alerts describe themselves from their triggers.
- Each one shows the last time it fired.

📐 True to your phone, consistent everywhere
Until now, previews always showed a design in its native grid: honest to the art, not to your phone. In 2.1, frame and alert previews render on your phone’s real matrix, converting designs from the other resolution exactly like the hardware does. And any post’s showcase can flip to show how it lands on your Matrix.

The rest of the app catches up too: frame settings, design pickers, alert cards, publish and save sheets, dialogs, switches and bottom sheets now all speak one design language. Plus the small stuff:
- Saves remember your filters and sort.
- Hold your avatar to jump to Settings.
- Post text is selectable.
- Better behavior offline.
- The Camera effect catches every camera mode.
🤍 Still made by you
None of this matters without the people posting the art. In the month since 2.0, the app has picked up over 10,000 new downloads, and the community is now close to 20,000 monthly active users. Thank you, again.
Translations keep moving too, all community-made. Want Glyph Museum in your language? Community Translate is open.
