Hello everyone,
I’m a Nothing fan from Bangladesh, and I wanted to start a discussion about some important issues many of us are facing with Nothing devices here. Nothing phones have become extremely popular in Bangladesh through grey-market imports, but with upcoming BTRC NEIR regulations, users are becoming increasingly concerned.
Grey-market popularity but high risk:
A large number of Nothing phones in Bangladesh are unofficial imports sold with no warranty and no genuine parts. Users take on all financial and long-term risks themselves.
Lack of official warranty and service:
There is no Nothing-authorized service center in Bangladesh. Even those who accept having no warranty still have no safe or reliable place to repair their devices or replace parts.
Counterfeit accessories:
Without official chargers, cables, or spare parts available locally, many users end up buying fake or low-quality accessories, which can damage the device and reduce lifespan.
NEIR / IMEI registration risk:
Bangladesh will activate NEIR on 16 December 2025.
Devices already active before that date will be auto-registered.
New, unregistered imported devices after that date may be blocked.
Without official IMEI-registration support from Nothing, many Bangladeshi users could lose network access entirely.
Brand trust and reputation risk:
If Nothing phones stop working after NEIR, users may feel abandoned, which could harm Nothing’s reputation despite its growing popularity here.
Xiaomi’s approach (a relevant example):
Before Xiaomi officially entered Bangladesh, it first established an authorized service center in Dhaka. This built trust early and allowed the brand to grow safely. A similar approach could be effective for Nothing.
What Bangladeshi users want from Nothing:
Authorized service centers in Dhaka and Chattogram.
Support for NEIR / IMEI registration.
Availability of genuine chargers, cables, and spare parts.
A clear statement about Nothing’s plans for official entry into Bangladesh.
Why this matters for Nothing:
Setting up service support or IMEI registration—even before official sales—would build trust, protect the brand’s reputation, and prevent backlash once NEIR is enforced.
Questions Nothing needs to address:
Is Nothing planning to support IMEI/NEIR registration in Bangladesh?
Will there be authorized service or parts distribution soon?
If not, why is Bangladesh, despite clear demand, not being considered?
Many of us are loyal fans who want to support the brand, but we need assurance that our concerns and risks are acknowledged.
Looking forward to hearing everyone’s thoughts, and hopefully some clarity from Nothing as well.
