I hope Nothing team is reading this thread or will read this thread..I was about to buy Nothing phone 2 but luckily read this thread and postponed my plan to buy.

I will not buy Nothing phone until they resolve this Android auto problem.

Here’s the reply i received after reporting it. Unfortunately it didn’t work For me.

We understand that you’re having an issue using the Android auto in your car with your Phone (2a).
We apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused.

The connection between the phone and the on-board equipment is established via Android Auto. The premise is that the on-board equipment in the car needs to support Android Auto. Please check with your vehicle service provider for device compatibility.
No phone: Go to Settings>Connected Devices>Connection Preferences>Android Auto, connect to the car via USB cable
1. Turn on USB debugging; (input *#*[#3424](https://support.nothing.tech/hc/requests/3424)#*#* on the dial pad)
2. Allow popup requests on your phone.
For most compatible car or aftermarket stereos, simply plug into your phone with a USB cable. If your car’s display supports wireless connectivity, you must pair your phone with your car’s Bluetooth to set it up. Once set up, depending on your car, the phone will automatically connect or the Android Auto app icon will appear on your car’s display.
Kind tips:
1. If the mobile phone is only in the charging state after connecting the mobile phone and the connection cannot be established, please try to replace the USB data cable to reconnect the car, or restart the mobile phone to reconnect;
2. If it cannot be used, it is recommended that you check whether the built-in software of the car projection screen is the latest version, and at the same time upgrade the Android Auto on the phone to the latest version in the Google Play Store.

Please let us know if this will help. You may reach us anytime if the troubleshooting steps provided didn’t solve the issue.

My analysis: issue is with Google ( Android 14 after upgrade from 13).

I had Oppo Reno 6 5G ( on Android 13) before nothing 2a. With Oppo reno6 5g , Android auto worked perfectly fine with my Suzuki Ciaz India 2017 .

With nothing 2a , connected via USB wire, screen shows after a long lag of about 30 minutes , then somehow selected destination, with this sound comes fine as per navigation, but screen freezed.

Same thing happened with my wife new latest IQOO 7 with 5G ( also with Android 14). Same issue with IQOO phone. Screen freezed.

Google had changed something on USB code / bit rate or so , that is why after Android 14 , Android auto breaks on somewhat old infotainment.

But both nothing 2a and IQOo works fine with Android 14 with my Suzuki Ignis 2021 model without issue.

I just got this response from Nothing Support:

Regarding your upcoming car service appointment on Tuesday, it’s a proactive step to update the infotainment system to the latest version. We understand your skepticism about whether it will resolve the issue, especially considering that other Android devices work fine. Rest assured, we’ll keep investigating to find a solution that works for you.

Still no real workaround or fix insight, but at least they are responding better to me now.

I got the following reply. In short the fix will be rolled out in OTA. No ETA on release yet.

I have successfully connected the Nothing Phone 2a in my new Breeza ZXI variant.

However, Once i connect it only the 1st time i can view the caller number & i am able to receive the call, Later i am not able to see the name /number on the screen neither on the phone. Nor i am able to recieve the calls.

I tried using other phones which are working fine.

Maps, Music everything is working fine, Kindly help me to sort this issue on priority.

Addition : tested with nothing 1 having Android 14 on my Suzuki Ciaz India, it is working fine without any problem.Now this makes us to think that it is problem of nothing 2a Android 14 build version.

As I antcipated that even running the latest version of my car’s (Suzuki Swift Sport) informatinment system (Bosch branded unit) firmware doesn’t resolve the issue with the Phone 2a and AA, other devices work fine.

So it’s definately an issue with AA, the Phone 2a and some compatibility with some cars infortainment units (as people have mentioned it works fine for them, though have call issues).

Hope Nothing can fix this via an OTA software update in the future (people already mentioned that support have mentioned to them that an upcoming OTA update is coming). I have advised Nothing support also and will be keep an eye on future updates on the issue being resolved, but until then back to a Google Pixel.

One additional update - I tested 2a with Peugeot 3008 (I think its 2022/2023) and AA works fine and I can also make a calls and the caller can hear me. So it works, but there is no possibility to disconnect either on phone or on the infotainment system and I can not do anything with a running call, like muting etc.

Hello, so i bought the 2a and in call nobody can hear me. Using the voice assistant and voice to text works fine.

Does anyone know how to fix this issue?

My car is 2023 Audi S4 i consulted this issue with dealer the software in the car got updated to latest version. That didnt fix the issue.

On my old Samsung S21Fe everything works as it should
