It’s as I originally thought. No changes to the physical geometry of the phone, but some upgrades to the specs:
With Phone (2a) Plus, we had the opportunity to create a beefed-up version for savvy users who demand more processing power, and we also made some improvements that didn’t require hardware design changes. Finally, we wrapped it up with a new kick-ass variant that reflects these upgrades. I’m super excited about the end result!

Does it comes with glass back?
Maybe yes
It’s the Community Edition with more RAM+memory and a glass back.
I wonder what price it will be.
(2a) (12+256GB) is currently £349, and (2) (12+256GB) is currently discounted to £479 (£629), which is a difference of £130. The larger (2) (12+512GB) is £699 – a difference of £350! What differences between the (2) and (2a) Plus will remain to justify there being much of a difference in the prices? Fewer Glyphs, a weaker chipset, lower maximum brightness from the screen, and no wireless charging; although the battery is bigger on the (2a).
Might Nothing be cannibalising the phone (2)'s market? Are all the (2) variants about to get a price reduction, or will the (2a) Plus (Community Edition?) be more expensive than the (2a)?
