As you may have heard, as part of the CMF by Nothing launch, community members were offered the chance to receive all three of our launch products, for free, as part of the CMF Community Review Program. This thread is a space for chosen members to share their reviews and content about Buds Pro! (We encourage honest feedback and reviews. The CMF by Nothing team has zero influence over community reviews. )

In addition, if you’re someone who already picked up Buds Pro at one of our Drops last week, be sure to drop your thoughts here too!

For everyone else, perhaps you’re thinking about buying a pair of Buds Pro in the future and have questions about it, well… this is the place to get your answers!

Only the Watch Pro and Charger are good.

Buds Pro is so bad !!

Good design. Decent audio quality. Okayish ANC. Bad call quality, the call volume is very low and build quality is cheap.

I would advise to skip Buds Pro purchase

Ghost Thanks Abhi. A slightly more detailed one will be better. Would love to hear your granular inputs. Will be great for prospective buyers and the company as well 😊

Ghost I’d like to disagree your take about the buds pro. I think they sound pretty good, the bass is not too heavy and it feels nicely tuned. The ANC works well in some environments, mostly with Fan noise, AC, etc. It’s not good with louder noises. I found the transparency mode useless however, it just amplified some of the background noises that I do not want to hear. I also find the build quality to be apt, I am a bit concerned about the hinge however, I feel it might break over time it doesn’t feel very sturdy to me. It is a good product but for the Indian market I think the price gives me a disadvantage compared to what else it out there.

btw, here’s my unboxing and first impressions of the Buds Pro:

I’ll be uploading a full review soon too!

For reference, I purchased my pair of Buds Pro at the London Drop on September 30th, I’ve spent about 8 hours using my pair, listening to a range of music from EDM/House and Lo-Fi video game soundtracks to poppy chart music. I’ve been using them with a Nothing Phone(1) along with the Nothing X app.

In a category with varying specifications, price ranges and capabilities, CMF Buds Pro find themselves punching upwards for their pricing point due to their launch from a pre-established cousin in the Ear() range. With ANC, some touch functionality and the backing of the Nothing X app, at this price point, I’m content with the Buds Pro.

The first notable, albeit obvious, difference with the Buds Pro is how different they are from the Ear() range, the obvious lack of transparency in the design and usage of different plastics means that the “premium” nature of Ear() stands out when compared side by side. Set in the price bracket of soundcore/JBL offerings, and the CMF Buds fit right at home, but they certainly have the staple of being a “by Nothing” product.

The case itself is pleasant, the smooth finish on the plastic takes the basic material and gives it a surprisingly nice feel. The contrasting hinge feels secure in motion but does have some side-to-side play which while expected, isn’t ideal. The buds themselves nestle nicely into the case, with magnets “homing” them into place, the interior plastic of the case does feel like a more “muted” orange than the exterior or buds which both match very closely despite separate production.

When first fitting the Buds Pro, it was obvious that a change in design to the bud shape had occurred stepping away from the Ear() range, a flatter “inner” profile that personally results in a more comfortable fit. This enables longer wearing of the buds than the Ear()’s, along with a secure and lightweight experience for the wearer without fatigue.

Fast Pair, along with the Nothing X app gets the user up and running without issue, and the customisation within the app allows for some personalisation of the EQ and interfacing with the buds. The power and noise control notification sounds of the Buds Pro are distinctly different from the Ear()’s, completing their separate personality (though play/pause is the same).

Volume has not been an issue during initial usage, with these buds being plenty loud enough for spoken word to be clear and music being comfortable at around 40% volume. The quality of the sound leaves more to be desired; that’s not to say these are “bad” buds by any means, rather they do not have the same richness felt in other more premium devices. Personally, the initial profile of the buds was a bit base-heavy, though this was quickly remedied in the EQ settings. Having received no complaints on call quality, the voice recorder app was used to listen back to a sample track, notably, the hum of background devices was present, but the voice was clear and would serve well for calls.

ANC and transparency modes are present, with unique sounds clearly indicating which mode is activated (The base heavy thud of the ANC almost feels like switching off the world). The “cabin-pressure” effect that is sometimes felt by ANC is delightfully not present, and transparency mode does amplify the external world. At present, both of these modes are serviceable and while they may not stand out compared to other offerings, it is worth noting that these modes have often been updated over time with improvements as shown by the Ear() range.

Battery life and user experience are as expected from a pair of buds, the pairing experience has been consistent and each interaction has felt responsive and fluid without causing frustration or leaving ambiguity around which “mode” the buds are in.

In summary, Buds Pro provide a solid recommendation for those wanting a very comfortable pair of TWS without paying a “premium” and are happy using these for casual listening. Features, quality, and software are as expected from this product bracket, with the Nothing branding taking a back seat, but certainly present as the foundations of this product.

Just Received them yesterday, had great unboxing experience and design is quite unique.

Listened to some EDM / House playlist. Watched a couple of videos on YouTube and attended a group call on WhatsApp. But, when called a friend, I almost couldn’t hear what he said. To my surprise the volume was at 60-ish percent. Upon Full volume I could hear the person’s voice barely. I’m using this with a Nothing Phone 2 and overall I would have recommended this product but as someone who has to make and receive calls more than an average person, I did not like the call quality.

Please give us a firmware update to this issue, because it’s more likely a software bug as the hardware does have significant volume when listening to music, it’s only an issue when it comes to Calling (both on Wi-Fi calling and VoLTE)

I purchased the Buds Pro at the drop on 30 Sep, London. My intention was only to buy the Watch Pro but after asking to try the Buds Pro, it only took about 10 seconds to convince me to buy them as well.

They sound amazing! The low frequencies are so powerful. It’s hard to believe that such small buds can generate such a tremendous sound. I listen to electronic music that relies very much on the low end of the spectrum and the Buds Pro makes a fabulous job. On top of that, the Noise Cancellation is other-worldly good. I am more than satisfied with the purchase; indeed, I still find it hard to believe that they can be so good for their price.

Regarding the software configuration in the App; I would suggest the following:

          - Equaliser. Every time I select Custom it shows me the same configuration. I wish that if I had previously chosen one of the other presets such as Balanced, More Bass, More Treble, or Voice, it would show the corresponding Mid/Bass/Treble setup in “Custom” so that I can modify it from the previously selected preset.

          - Controls. I miss to be able to choose No action on any of the controls. Now only available in Double Tap & Hold.

To summarise, on of the best purchases I ever made! 🎊

iAdityaHarsh the community setup is quite complicated compared to almost any community forum, moderators can message in private discussion but you cannot reply. And if you try to tag them in discussions other moderators can red flag you. Please decide on what rules you want.

As far as Buds quality is concerned, I had it replaced from Flipkart, yet no solution. The replacement is the same. It truly is a half baked product. I’m shocked no reviewers are highlighting this. Money Wasted.

          8 days later

I’ve been using nothing earbuds since 2 weeks and I even did 2 firmware updates in the meantime. Recently buds started disconnecting for few seconds in between and that’s highly irritating as we need to rewind the class or movie whatever it is. I even disabled in ear detection but the problem didn’t go away. This use to happen with other brand (boat) buds which I used before but on resetting the problem use to solve. Please instruct me how I can reset the buds and also tell me how I can solve the above issue, however this is happening not regularly but it is making the earbuds unreliable.

          • VijitChandna I also agree I’ve only had the buds for 3 days now I was able to purchase them on Amazon The only thing that’s not available in my country right now which is the US is the watch pro Honestly speaking these buds may be giving a low quality feel but in terms audio quality these guys skyrocket through the roof The bass technology is very good and I must say these open my ears in a way to a new quality of sound

Now these certainly won’t be replacing my Nothing Ear (2)'s but they’re not meant to. At this price point, the sound quality, which is pretty crisp and smooth, (not for heavy bass users though), the CMF by Nothing Buds Pro are really solid. The fit is great for me personally and the feel in ear is excellent. I love how light they are, similar to Ear (1) / Ear (2). At times I totally forget they’re in my ear while working or cleaning the house. ANC is decent but not the best. ANC does well while I’m working at home in a relatively already quiet setting blocking out background noises coming in from outdoors, the kids/family talking downstairs, etc.. However, I found ANC to not be great in coffee shops, outdoors, or much louder environments. Transparency mode has not worked for me. I actually bought a second pair because I thought maybe it was a defective unit, but found even on the second order, transparency mode just didn’t seem to work or work well for that matter. The charging case design is awesome, looks premium considering the price point here. The hinge for me seems sturdy and about the same as the hinge on the Ear (1) / Ear (2) ear cases. If you’re already a Nothing Ear user, these may be a good backup option if you’re looking for a cheaper pair to use at the gym, throw into a bag quickly, or when your Ear (1) / Ear (2) may be charging. My kids who are Ear (1) users, used these a few times as well and enjoyed them so I’d recommend them for kids/teens as well. However if you can get Ear (stick) or a pair of Ear(1)s for a great price in your market, I’d recommend going for those first before picking these up. The CMF by Nothing Buds Pro are great though in many markets where available considering the price point. I think they sound great, fit great, and they just look cool. For gen 2, I’d love to see CMF keep the price point, but improve the ANC/Transparency mode and these will be an absolute recommend from me.

Hi everyone, I received my cmf buds pro today but the issue is the top lid or the cap of the charging case is not sturdy. Its kind of has some play or space to rattle when closed. Is this a manufacturing defect or its normal?

Not a review but just a suggestion. Case size should be small just like Airpods 3 which should easily fit in your small jeans pocket. Airpods are the gold standard when it comes to TWS especially their case size. Hope in the future CMF makes small case sizes.

Got my buds pro yesterday, it was a gift from my wife, I’m very satisfied with the sounds (super crisp base), it is just my cup of tea actually. Thanks cmf team

Should I purchase CMF buds pro or nothing ear 2(@twice the price)? I saw a lot of complaints for ear 2 battery life. And I think both earbuds are pretty bulky. What do you guys suggest?
