Sustainability has also become, unfortunately, a marketing tool. Customers can sense this a mile away. So, like everything mentioned on different threads, if the communication is clear and the company truly is interested in catering to that matter, it can be a good point to differentiate themselves.
About your last point, perhaps when the production is more consolidated that’s something they can do. During the device lifetime, I am pretty sure that some members are indeed going to lose one, so that would be a good measure to make them feel that the company is taking care of their needs.
If they are labeled as a “replacement unit”, I believe that no one would be disappointed if the packaging is not fancy. It would be a decision based on convenience for the customer who is in need of help.
