chandrasekaran_k I think you didn’t check the submission gallery. All 65 entries were not made live on the last day. They were getting added as they were being uploaded and approved. So no, the chance of a later submission taking inspiration from the early ones was always present.

Fractal Thank you! I was thinking about how to best reveal the lenticular effect, and I’m glad my intentions were well communicated.

🚨 Stage: 3 Packaging Design - Voting Now Open! 🚨

The time has come to show support for your favourite Community Edition Packaging concept!

  • You can only vote once

  • Votes cannot be changed

  • Choose carefully!

Cast your vote here 🗳️

A reminder that the final decision lies with our internal jury, meaning the most-voted project may not necessarily win.

All the best to those who have designed meticulously over the last few weeks!

Excited to comb through them all and place my vote. Good luck to you all! 🔥

Since I was the second submission in this stage. I have been cooking for a while. I thought why not make a campaign video for my design ?
So I did.
I produced the music (yes, it is custom made). And then proceeded to edit and create the video. Enjoy and remember…

VOTE FOR THE PHOSPHORESCENT TWO-FACE EDITION BOX.

While I strongly believe you will win the package design, this early stage 4 concept is a bit towards the wrong direction. While your design is based on two face, it is better to NOT to have anything related to it in the marketing materials. The narrative should be towards co-creation as a community, I believe. Not judging or being negative or anything, just some clarity that will help you and maybe other people to ideate something really cool. Me myself, I will be participating in stage 4. So lets create something cool.

p.s. got some of my friends to vote on your entry.

Fractal Yeah you are absolutely right! And no that was not a stage 4 submission material video, I know that. It was just something fun I created to announce that the voting has begun and that people can vote for my entry. Also I thought why not use this opportunity to just create some music ? As a hobbyist singer/songwriter my beat making skills were a bit rusted. This is just harmless fun and to add a layer of storytelling to the product.

I learned in university that “Great product design is simply great storytelling”. I just wanted to use the the Two-Face reference of “Two Heads Are Better Than One”. I felt like it fit perfectly here.

Also I cannot thank you enough for the support. I personally don’t involve my own friends or ask them to vote for me cause I believe that my work needs to speak for itself, otherwise it is just fake. If I win I’ll dedicate the win to you.

No, please dont consider that my feedback is the end point to your idea. This is where it actually begins, we discuss, share feedback and keep on iterating until it feels good enough to be shared with the world. The face that you composed this yourself just speaks volumes about your talent. I thought you got it custom made from someone else.

And yes, this is harmless fun. Do take my thoughts on a light note. I am confident that you will ideate and iterate more and arrive at a creation that has the quality of your previous work for stage 3.

And yes, if I had any socials like ig or X, i’d have shared your entry there.

        Cheers.

        I did what I had to do… flo_rahil

I was conflicted for a minute. But honestly it was right there.

Your design is just… It’s crazy attractive. Like If I had no clue what this phone was and I saw this on a shelf, I would ask the store guy what phone that is.

Great product design is more than just aesthetics - it’s about telling a compelling story and you have achieved that! The consistency and uniqueness of the design of your box, matching all the other previous phone 2a boxes but still standing out with its sleek dual look, make it easily identifiable and attention-grabbing. Not choosing this design would be a huge missed opportunity, as the design team would likely regret not going with the twoface option. This design also aligns perfectly with Nothing’s philosophy of “Making tech fun again”.

I also really appreciated the video, It adds a layer of personality. Fractal , very valid points - but I believe blud was just bored and saw this as a chance to showcase his musical and editing skills, and I’m all for it. We don’t even know the stage 4 brief. So I am 100% sure this was not intended for that.

And Rahil, if you’re a singer, I would love to hear some samples. It would be great to see another talent of yours!

Because the voting has started, I would like to recommend some suggestions for voting, considering that this thread’s replies talk about so very few. I’m in no way associated with the people/teams I’m going to write about and I didn’t submit anything for this stage.

With that out of the way, a solid design that stood out to me among the others would be Martin’s. Its texture looks like something taken straight out of a comic book, with a young and energetic design that makes you hyped for the phone just by looking at the package. The green is so brightly neon that it grabs the buyer’s attention immediately, while, to me, also looks like it’s hinting towards the glow (in the dark) gimmick of the phone.

At the polar opposite is the mature and refined design created by Ian. The big eye in the middle of the box grabs the buyer by their soul and pulls them into a dimension they never dared to explore, zooming past generic competing brands and landing them smack-dab in the middle of a planet of technological wonder. At least, that’s what the design inspires, a brand that offers courage to its buyers to try something unprecedented.

Another great entry is Vivek’s mysterious design. The main layer of the package looks like it’s merely showcasing the color of the phone that the buyer is about to purchase. However, the two strategically placed circles on the second layer surround the box in this mystical aura, making the buyer wonder what secrets the phone is hiding. The glass effect added on top of the circles not only goes hand in hand with Nothing’s aesthetic, but also makes me feel like I’m looking at something I’m not supposed to see yet.

I would like to conclude by adding that people should not consider things like “financial feasibility” or what the point of a box should or shouldn’t be when voting, because neither are we Nothing’s corporate cost assessment team, nor should we focus solely on traditional design concepts. We are a community of passionate people who are here to vote on entries that we believe look cool, while inspiring designers to create anything that races through their minds. If you want to vote for glow-in-the-dark boxes, transparent plastic boxes, boxes made out of weird organisms, thermochromic paint boxes or anything else, by all means do so.

Louis ☕️ Yeah it will be a lot of fun, and I think it will also help the user understand the product! Thank you 🙂

RaduBratan You have made some wonderful points there. Design is kinda like art and that makes it very subjective, not everyone will like the same thing. Best you can do is make something that you like and put it out in the world and hopefully that resonates with others.

stealth And Rahil, if you’re a singer, I would love to hear some samples. It would be great to see another talent of yours!

I appreciate your vote for me stealth.

Regarding my music, yeah you can listen to it on Spotify or Apple music.
