How to upgrade to Android 15 Developer Preview

  1. Go to “Settings > About phone > Software info” to confirm that your system has been updated to the latest version

Phone (2a): Nothing OS NOS 2.5.6

Phone (2): Nothing OS 2.5.6

If not, please go to “Settings > System > System update” to check for updates.

  1. Download the latest software update package.

  2. Create a folder named “ota” in your device’s internal storage directory.

  3. Copy the package to the “ota” folder.

  4. Go to your phone’s dial screen and enter the following code: *#*#682#*#*

  1. The local update tool will now open. In the drop-down list that appears, select the upgrade package you just copied.

The drop-down list will display all files in the “ota” folder - you can update the list by tapping the “RELOAD” button.

If the upgrade package does not appear in the drop-down list, tap the “Browse” button to select the “ota” folder and then select the upgrade package.

Please make sure you have prepared the correct upgrade package for your device. If the upgrade package is wrong, it will show an error prompt “Verify metadata file status”.

  1. Tap the “Directly apply OTA from selection” button to start updating.

Please do not remove the app from the background during the update as this may cause issues with the updating process. It is recommended that you keep the local update tool until the process is completed. This will help ensure a smooth and successful update process.

  1. Reboot your device

After the upgrade process is complete, a pop-up will appear asking if you would like to reboot your device. We strongly recommend selecting “Confirm” here, as upgrades require a reboot to enter the new version.

  1. Upgrade successful

How to roll back to the stable build

This roll-back solution will erase all the data of your devices. Please be sure to backup first.

  1. Download the roll-back package

  2. The following steps are the same as upgrading

Sweat, will not take the leap yet tho. Eagerly waiting for a NothingOS preview release that doesn’t require a factory reset 👀

Nice to see a second iteration of this Developer Preview Beta.

Hoping that those developers willing to take the plunge get some good feedback and early inspiration for the future of NothingOS on Android 15. Excited to see where this goes and how it shall be implemented in future, watching this space! 🔥

Pikachu don’t worry, they probably cook it for Phone 1 and Android 15 is last Android update right?

Anyway, a bit jealous 2a got NothingOS UI. 😒

Nice update but the bugs quite annoying. 😆

    Happy update and enjoy. 😉

Will there be any problem if I install it now other than mentioned broken features?

Ram0396 This beta is only made for developers looking to test their app on Android 15, we don’t recommend installing this on your daily device for a normal usage

RapidZapper thanks for saying this I installed it now and thinking about it why it is smooth to operate but feels like a custom rom 🤣🤣. Okay then I will revert back thanks 👍

        • No ability to change Ringtone and notification sound

And one more thing for Indian users you can’t get 5g+ network on jio network and sms also seems bit clumsy

I think it would be good if Nothing provide us 2 UI, nothing and stock. So if we get bored we can switch UI. This is also already avail in Asus zenfone.

yuyakuchiki Wait next DP update, they will put NothingOS UI since this update, 2a got NothingOS UI.

Or you can wait for the NothingOS Open Beta to feel full experience. IDK when it will be available. Probably 3-4 months after DP la kot.

RasselHossain you have to wait for them to cook this for Phone 1.

This one is for Phone 2 and 2a.

Either you wait for them to cook to Phone 1, or you upgrade the phone to Phone 2 or 2a.

Again no one is reading the OP… this is a version for developers, not for daily use. Why is it so hard to understand everytime?

            9 days later

Awww updated to NOS 2.6 and just found this… Will there be a revised package (2) or do i have to go thru the whole rollback procedure to 2.5.6?

MagnusG for this particular beta you’ll need to follow the package information as detailed above, so yes, 2.5.6. Don’t have any info regarding any further betas at the moment.

              11 days later
