CMF Phone 1 - A Platform for Builders
AmreezHussain I’m planning on creating something like that. After getting .step files.
This is a great thing! So excited to see what comes from the Community in terms of this Co-Creation!
After a few brief discussions with Rob, I found myself discussing with @Derren, @3DPrintedCat and @Mr Steel about our ideas, printing methods and all things 3D Design/printing!
From the original STL, a few prints revealed that my printer really wasn’t having much fun with the filament I was using, but after a few more prints I got things pretty dialed in!
(Check out this Galaxy Green Prusa filament in the light!)
I then decided to throw the print into my resin printer, which after some sage advice from @3DPrintedCat, I got some really nice prints off, though one was slightly unsupported and I may have accidentally dropped one!
@3DPrintedCat came in with his blender wizardry and a simplified design produced far cleaner results in both resin and FDM prints!
@Derren’s idea to have a PokeCard holder was then perfect for this and was a moment of genuis that I think we all saw and thought “How didn’t I think of that?!” Safe to say, it was straight onto my printer!
Currently, I’m struggling with some peach filament that I’d love to see on the device one day
I’ll be lurking in here and the discord, hopping into any conversation around 3D Printing and how best we can work to create something really unique on such a cool platform of a Phone!
Rob Let’s get creative.
Someone’s gotta make one that can house a glass back. I’m not that skilled to do all that lmao,
Good luck, can’t wait to see what is too come
tomkarbowski as in the entire back of the phone being glass?
No border being 3d printed like a tiny ledge/lip to get a glass panel to stick too.
Dylan_B I’m glad to help as best I could, you made some really nice prints!
Rob can’t wait to see what our community produces. CMF looks really interesting, ordered the watch Pro 2 yesterday, should be good
I don’t know design but what about an e ink pan to add notes, reminder or even an cool animation on the back for notifications . Also should be modular.
Can we get the blueprint /specs of that black foam/pad on the inside of the official shells , feel we may need that for long term 3rd party use
This is 10 min in photoshop, but a back clear cover incorporating a Questyle M15 dac. Could be created flat, or buldge where the dac is.
Or a complete product of a back cover with just a dac board and aux out on the bottom. Might only double the thickness. A complete high-quality multi-media device for sub $300?
How about a beefed up rugged case?
Ali Fakhruddin yotaphone already had this
What’s the thread pitch on the small screws ? Or is it fine for coarse. May have over looked on the blueprint .
This is a time-lapse of my very first test print on a Bambulab X1
Big shout-out to @Derren , @3DPrintedCat and @Dylan_B for exploring these possibilities together with them
Looking forward to see what other stuff will be designed by the Community Have fun and let’s keep designing!
ThomasBurchett This is quite a good idea, I have a DAC from creative that is small and can make it in a case, now that you brought this idea.
But for now, I’m still looking for small and thin type C cables similar to this
I will then have to work on a way to split the wires for an e-paper display.
