I was genuinely confused why it drained faster than my previous 4 year old phone (Galaxy A51), which had a lower battery capacity. Screen off time is also much worse compared to it.

This phone lasts 1 day or less with me on normal usage (no gaming, no extensive video playing) despite Nothing themselves claiming a 2-day battery life. Many reviews this phone 10-16 hours, but mine lasts only 7-8. I was hoping to use the charging limit feature but that just brings it down to 6.

The claimed battery life is one of the main reasons why I chose this phone, so I’m extremely disappointed. I’m really hoping the 3.0 update makes it what they advertised it to be.

It’s been like 15-18 days since I bought my nothing 2a 12gb 256gb ROM. Before the update, the battery was optimised and was giving me easily 6-8hrs on usage but after the october patch update, its been worse. I’m not even getting even 5hrs on normal usuage. I don’t know its about software update bug or something but I think it’s because of the patch update.

    Hi,

is the same problem as with the 2a device. This is what i wrote about it in the 2a forum:

The mobile phone loses up to 15% battery overnight, not always. But quite frequently and without any recognisable pattern.

What I found out with the GSAM Battery Monitor app is that it is not an app that causes the problem but the kernel itself.

In the graph of the app you can see that the mobile phone goes into deepsleep normally after a while and the processor clocks down. But then the problem occurs. Without the mobile phone being used, the processor utilisation goes to 100%. Fortunately, the processor does not clock up to 100%, otherwise the mobile phone would be empty in the morning!

In the monitor app, you can see that the system kernel has utilised the mobile phone and not an app.

Therefore, this problem can only be fixed by updating Nothing!

Here is another screenshot of the Monitor app:

The mobile phone has been charged to 80%. Used for a while and then not touched again. As you can see, the clocking and usage is going down, as it should be. But then at around 9 pm the usage goes up to 100% and the clock rate increases. At the end of the screenshot you can see a small peek when I use the mobile phone again.

I have reported all this. But as always, nothing happens.

Nothing is a brand like all the others. A lot of fuss about the alleged connection to the community. But at the end of the day, it’s all hot air and it’s all about the money.

Buy the product, shut up, don’t bother and buy a new product soon.

    and this:

The problem doesn’t occur often enough for a malware app, and I can see in the GSAM Battery Monitor app that the kernel is the problem. Unfortunately not exactly which process of it. What would be the point of finding out exactly which process is causing this. I couldn’t do anything about it anyway.

I also did a factory reset and the problem was still there afterwards. (without installing any apps)

I haven’t installed any ‘weird’ apps either, just the ‘usual’ stuff and not even that much of it.

I now have no hope that the problem will be fixed. There are too many things that are wrong and Nothing doesn’t care.

Battery drain, charging performance lower than advertised, touch sensitivity, pale colours, inconsistent low backlighting and so on.

All things that have been reported and discussed here in the forum, but nil happens. No real bugs are fixed but rather new features like the shared widget are added. *slow clap*

The 2a plus is my first Nothing Phone and most likely the last.

It’s the same rubbish as OnePlus. At the beginning everything is great and fresh, but after a short time everything falls apart and the quality drops.

Disable Unknown Tracker Alerts in Google settings

Disable Google bloatware like Android System Intelligence and the Google app etc

I get 11 hour SOT 100% to 0% and charge every 2 or 3 days

At the weekend my SOT was over 6 hours and still had more than 30% battery. I think that’s pretty good. Of course it could be more, but I’m more worried about the camera 😅.

I have been using this phone[Nothing 2a plus]for two days, and I have noticed that the battery seems to be draining faster compared to my Nothing phone 2A. Could this issue be specific to my device, or might it be related to a recent software update?

Battery percentage dropped from 90% to 35 % in 3 hour 46 min screentime [40 min gaming] .

    Is this normal?

shusant is your device brand new? If so, I’d suggest that the phone is learning your behaviour and intensive processes are running that are linked to the phones setup.

I’d give the phone at least 7 days to truly understand what the battery life potential will be. If you’re gaming at high FPS that will also impact speed of drain.

hrry changed the title to Nothing (2a) Plus - Battery Drain Question .

Right give your phone time. And also remove/disable apps which you don’t use often.

Like, I’ve removed Google search and Android Auto, google tv.

hrry I have brought it 7 days ago. It’s great have such a community experience.

hrry Here’s a reply you can use:

I bought the phone 7 days ago, so it’s still optimizing its battery performance. I don’t do much gaming, so that’s not a major factor for me. Thanks for the suggestion, though, and it’s great to have such a supportive community.

The idea of a phone “learning your behaviour” is just a myth.

My 2a+ got 11 hours SOT first full charge
