Here’s a simple gallery app concept by me, click on images to enlarge.

These are the standalone page views with all the panels expanded, you can download and view them on your phone as well!

Constructive feedback is appreciated.

JeffreyLopez Thanks for the feedback! Actually the buttons are customizable, you can see it in the settings screenshot where you can customize the actions for each page. So you can put crop, rotate, copy or whatever you like in the order you want!

Looks “fine”, but there’s a couple of things I would change:

    • avoid dot font for small and medium text sizes, looks unprofessional and hard to read.
    • Search in the settings: makes sense only if there’s really a lot (a lot!) of settings, and it’s not the case.
    • I think that a gallery app should focus on letting the user admire their pics, and the way all the options cover the image is not acceptable for me
    • Misleading icons: some icons are not right, for example you use an hamburger icon to show more options, but that icon should be used for navigation.
    • I made this error too, but as part of a constructive feedback I would not use cards in settings, unless clicking the card opens a sub setting area.
    • Key line spacing is odd and unbalanced, using a 8dp rhythm would help to get a consistent design.

      Mirko_ddd thanks for detailed feedback!

The small Ndot47 font looks really nice to me, it is hard to see it on the compressed images but on my actual phone screen it looks good imo.

There are actually more settings than it’s here, i just haven’t added them, kept the search bar for consistency and as a form of “title” since it is the only thing showing the name of the page.

I expected it to be understood that the options are easily hidden by tapping the photo once, just like any other gallery app. It opens the photo fullscreen and if you tap it, it brings the options you see in the mockups. Like this:

Icons are from a pack, i would change all of them. Maybe in the future i will make them from scratch. I’ll change the wrong ones in the next revision.

About the cards, i’ll most likely change them as you said, only for sub menus seems more logical.

Spacings are always done in multiples of 4, usually 8-12-16-24 depending on the size of the object but i’ll double check it.

Will work on this more and hopefully make it a real app. Thanks again.

AbhijithAnil Thanks for the suggestion! The “add to” button on the actions bar allows you to add images to a collection separate from albums. You can do a favorites collection and add the images to there!

It essentially creates another album but without moving the actual files, sort of like shortcuts to the photos. You can make a favorites list and add your photos there easily.
