Sourav_Satvaya I think samsung has enabled it through software update for older models like s20 ,s21 and note 20 series
Bypass Charging - Gaming Mode
It depends lowkey, my old Poco F3 didnt have it but custom kernel added that feature.
Ram0396 If the bypass charging is working after a software update then the required hardware was also present from the beginning but was disabled for some reason. During bypass charging the current doesn’t go through the battery to power the device, it draws power directly from the charger, and it requires a specific hardware to do that.
I remember similar type of thing happened with Nokia Lumia phones back in the days. After a software update some Lumia devices got FM Radio, and for FM Radio there should be a seperate chip, it’s not just a software thing. So, those phones already had the chip but disabled due to some reason and a software update enabled that.
Thanks for explaining
so after pixel and samsung roll out the bypass charging update in their phones do nothing will do the same can the roll out the same update in all phones?
I dont think its possible on their entire line, but Id be surprised if it doesnt at least come to the Phone(2) and the 2a at some point.
All possible, maybe it will be in the future updates after android 15 (NOS3.0) update.
NOTHING should provide a simple charging bypass for heavy gaming in their mobile phones so that we can game to the fullest without thinking about battery health.
Hi All, just wanted to check if anybody knows whether the Android 15 OS3.0 update has now made this battery bypass feature active?
After updating I have noticed I can now change my custom charging value to 70%, 80% or 90% in the battery health settings.
I am unsure if the battery will have a continuous voltage applied to it and it will continue to trickle charge occasionally at the set value, or once the value is reached e.g 80%, will the charger power the phone directly from the mains and the phone battery be left out the circuit to prolong life.
Any advice greatly appreciated,
Regards Lee
LeeCleary I have the same question as well if we set the limiter will it make the phone use power directly from the charger or it will be as same as other device trickling at the limited percentage while continuously using battery to power the phone , anybody providing clarification will be appreciated
