Bluetooth instability issues

I recently switched from Google Pixel to Nothing Phone (2). Enjoying many things, from cleaner UI to better battery life, but there is a set of weird behaviours I’m triangulating to do something with Bluetooth.

Just to list examples:

Android Auto worked over Bluetooth for a week, and now stopped unless I connect to the same car with cable. Cleaned caches, reinstalled, readded devices - no change. Phone side shows “Android Auto connected, look at the car screen - nothing appears there)
Regular Bluetooth connection to har hands free takes minutes to transfer audio sometimes. E.g phone shows connected to car, incoming phone call is in handset… until it switches at random point to expected car speakers.
Garmin sports watch blinks Connected and Disconnected statuses when just walking around the apartment (tens, not hundreds of meters away from phone)
Oura ring battery life dropped by a few days (frequently connects to phone by Bluetooth)
Ear(2) starts intermittently disconnecting during longer listens (like an hour run)

In isolation, each of those could have many other reasons, but as I did not have these issues with exactly the same devices (besides Ears) with Pixel, I’m starting to suspect this is about Phone (2)’s Bluetooth.

Anyone else with similar issues? Anything to try fiddling with in software, or just to debig? Any known BT issues to be fixed with upcoming Nothing firmware?

I haven’t tried android auto but when I’m listening to music with headphones the files app will for no reason stop playing and close after usually around 20 minutes.

Hi I am having similar such issue of Bluetooth connection with Galaxy Watch 4. I tried restarting both devices atleast once in a week and connection issue strangely reduced.

I would also like to mention some Bluetooth issues.

The first is my Phone (2) somehow thinks it is still connected to my Ford through bluetooth after the truck has been turned off and I move well out of bluetooth range with my phone. The truck does have Android Auto. The Phone (2) shows connected to the truck whether I just use Bluetooth or Android Auto. I have to go into bluetooth and disconnect the device from the phone to get it to stop showing. This can also cause the phone to think it needs to route notification tones through bluetooth instead of the phone’s speaker.

Lastly, it takes quite a bit to connect to my other vehicle’s aftermarket bluetooth radio which each time I start the car.

Any other specifics or questions, please let me know and I’ll be happy to help and provide examples or tests to try and get this resolved.

Many issues with Bluetooth on NP2 too. Phone app routing sound to phone speaker even if I have my BT handsfree connected. Same with car bluetooth. Everytime I want to route phone audio (eg. Youtube sound) to BT handsfree, I need to go to the BT settings, device (shows as connected) and toggle the “media audio” to off and then back to on. BT is the buggiest I’ve ever seen (used Pixels so far) and almost make the Phone 2 useless for me. Considering going back to my Pixel 6 Pro (currently in my table drawer). If you have to deal with BT issues countless times a day, it is VERY anoying.

I use Bluetooth on many devices with my Nothing Phone 2 and haven’t had any problems.

I have these:
- 3x car handsfree - NOT android auto
- Plantronics headset
- 2x Sony headphones
- 1x Android auto

I use Plantronics whole day, but sometimes I drive the car also, so I switch the Plantronics off and use car handsfree.

Pixel has no problems switching devices in a second - while music from phone playing in the car, I switch on the Plantronics, the music will start to play in the headset in 1-2 seconds and vice versa.

NP2 is a disaster to switch devices, spent 5 minutes this morning to switch the audio to headphones when arrived by car - had to manually connect the headphones, then had to toggle “media audio” option off/on and then NP2 (spotify) shows that it is playing on headphones, but no sound at all…

Glad to read I’m not the only one having issues with the NP(2)'s bluetooth. Mine aren’t so much instability as much as the phone doesn’t seem to be able to walk and chew bubblegum at the same time when it comes to Bluetooth. Once it gets to a 2nd or 3rd device it’ll forget the 1st and I’ve got to repair the device or reboot the phone (sometimes one works and the other doesn’t).

I have NP(1). And it also has BT connectivity issues. It’s darn hard to connect it to headphones, BT DAC or car. Weird that Nothing has done… em.. nothing over past year to fix this 💩

If you have one device only, there are no problems,but if you switch bt devices often, it is a dissaster. I would need to reboot everytime I want to use another bt device 😉

bluetooth audio disconnect and glitch hundred times on one song… can’t hear a song without glitch. update done on December 2023. phone bought same day. is it a software issue or hardware one? what are you doing? nothing ?!

Same problem here! Impossible to play music on the car!!! This is the only phone I have this problem with. Nothing, when are you going to fix this bluetooth problem? It’s really disabling!

Experiencing Bluetooth issues as well on 2.5.0.BETA2

Music/Audio occasionally doesn’t work from phone speakers likely because it thinks it’s still connected to a Bluetooth device like my car even though it’s off.
Pokemon Go Plus device not being recognized even though my Google Pixel 6 picks up the Bluetooth pairing no problem.

Hello,

I have been using Samsung Buds 2 with NP2 from almost 4 months and have reported the same issue multiple times but still no workaround or fix for it. Whenever I raise a bug I get generic (bot-like) replies to wait for next update and issue would be fixed.

Issue I’m facing is, that after few minutes of buds usage, the sound between both buds either get out-of-sync for a few moments and then resume fine or they go silent for a few seconds

Also while continuously using the buds either the left or right bud gets discharged faster as compared to the other. This issue is not there when the same Samsung buds are being used with Samsung or Mi phones.

Post 2.5.1 and 2.5.1.a stable releases, feedback option is also removed.

Hopefully someone from nothing will notice here, or else they’ll ignore it like always

I have the problem that when I make calls in my car (Ford Mustang Mach E / Sync 4a) via the hands-free system, I can hear a deafening, crackling noise that makes a phone call impossible. I have already removed the Bluetooth connection and paired it again. I then reset the WLAN and Bluetooth settings. I even reset the car to factory settings. None of this has helped. As soon as I re-pair the Phone 2 with the car and want to make a call, I always hear the same noise. Since I don’t have this problem with other smartphones when I pair them with the car, I have to assume that the Phone 2 is defective.

Additionally, I got some “bad pin or passkey” error messages during re-pairing, although I removed and reset all the bluetooth devices before. Maybe there is still some garbage left, that should not be there.

I also have the same issues. I have the newest update nothing os 2.5.2 and i can’t use my airpods anymore since a week. Thats really frustrating.

They seems to be connected but i cannot listening to music over bluetooth.

Hi all . I’ve issue with Bluetooth . Pairing ear stick , worked fine with music but for call it doesn’t . It keeps saying Bluetooth failed . I tried everything restart the phone restart the ear stick reset Bluetooth etc etc . Any solution for that ?

Also here I’m experiencing issues with pairing, it looks like the pairing was successful for me but when I go and play music or want to accept a call it fails and just simply doesn’t work, no music gets played and no calls can be taken, I’m on Nothing OS 2.5.2
