I’m not sure that your experience would be limited to just Nothing phones, almost all phones have their proximity sensors in the same location, and this is typically the best location for the sensor to determine if it is blocked, for example lying on a table or close to your face during a call.
Please ensure that any accessories you’re using are compatible with your device.
To rule out a software issue, please ensure that your device is updated, and try other troubleshooting steps such as restarting the device.
