Merged 1 post from True Dark Mode Theme for Nothing Phone.

abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz I am not sure if its dark gray or amoled black but we seeing it in beta 3.0 , while high chances are we might see in future updates. have you not seen any beat OS reviews on youtube?

Hey guys, just wanted to discuss this. Does anyone think that the nothing devices will get the actually dark mode cause it is an amoled display and a truly dark mode would do wonders for the battery and I believe with the nothing theme contrast it would look COOL AS HELL!!!!

Nothing is not giving us true dark mode because of its cheap quality display. In true dark mode screen burning issue will increase even more. You can try this by applying complete black wallpaper in setting.

RahulPoswal Whether the display is cheap or not I don’t think that’s the real reason, the actual reason is Android’s theme engine in general , The material you theme engine in general doesn’t provide pitch black theme which you’ll understand if you’ve ever used a pixel device or an aosp custom rom and is the case with nothing as well and they may implement it if they want to but that’s totally a different topic.

Why Nothing Not implementing true dark mode . Its looks grey and not eye pleasing. please fix this

Merged 1 post from True Dark Mode in Nothing OS.

Seershendu whether its aosp rom Like nothing OS or custom ROM like Oxygen os or Hyper os etc

They atleast providing option to increase or decrease dark mode intensity whereas as nothing had no option to do that because of this grey tint users getting feel of Using LCD panel despite of Having AMOLED

OEM ROMs generally don’t offer an option to enable or disable pitch black mode. For instance, ROMs like OxygenOS, ColorOS, and One UI only use pitch black when dark mode is activated. However, Nothing seems to have a Pixel-style approach. Pixel phones, for example, don’t include a pitch black mode and instead use a gray tint in dark mode, which is actually beneficial for our eyes as it reduces display contrast. Up until Android 11, Android did feature a pitch black mode, but it was removed starting with Android 12.What I’m saying is whether Nothing as a brand decides to include pitch black mode in its OS is a separate discussion altogether.

Seershendu Nothing also have one ongoing issue and they don’t bother to fix this issue or accept it. While playing any video having black background just observe that colour distortion will be seen from black to grey and grey to black. This ruins the users viewing experience

Heera Sorry but I don’t experience this issue on my phone, as I watch series and movies on my phone at night (CMF). However, if this is a common problem for many users, it should definitely be addressed.

              • Hey we love your design language, but can we talk about Dark Mode?

The current dark mode is more of a gray mode. Many users prefer a true black dark mode for better contrast, deeper blacks, and battery savings on OLED screens.

Other brands offer pitch-black themes that not only look sleek but also reduce eye strain and power consumption. Given Nothing’s focus on minimalism, this seems like a perfect fit.

Could we get an option for True Black Dark Mode in a future update? It would enhance the experience for a lot of users. @avsktiwari

If you agree, like this to let Nothing know we want this feature! #NothingPhone #DarkMode #TrueBlack
