Community Developer Acknowledgment

Part of this community is really active in developing software to enhance the Nothing experience, myself included.

In the Last Quarter Update video, some developers received a shoutout for their creation. While this recognition is really appreciated and something I aspire to be featured in someday, I believe further acknowledgment would be beneficial. For instance, a simple badge on the developer forum profile or a small gadget (e.g. a keychain) with the developer’s name on it would be a nice gesture from Nothing.

These gestures of recognition could not only honor the work of developers but also potentially increase interest in the GDK, which currently has limited usage. A unique gadget, in particular, might encourage more people to explore and experiment with the GDK.

Yup they should be rewarded with any small gesture like some bages,small gifts like nothing notes, bags or something. It gives a sense of value for the efforts developers have put in.

Sharath_0-8 so do developers do these to be rewarded then? or do you do it purely because it’s an interesting challenge, helps the community and is just fun? there is a danger sometimes with ‘rewards’ that means people are then scrambling to get a reward 1st and contribute or develop secondary rather than the doing something first and if deemed great or whatever are rewarded in some way later - but the reward is a secondary thing and not the main objective

That’s a good idea. I think it’s important to acknowledge developers who are actively contributing to the ecosystem. I think they do a lot for those ecosystem developers but, you’re right, a badge or, something else would be cool.

obakesan I agree with your points and those are potential down sides but that’s the reason for small rewards(nothing’s notebooks,pen and stuff), I bet you a person who develops something just for rewards wouldn’t find those small rewards motivating enough to put in such efforts, and a person who does it for the joy wouldn’t mind those small rewards, infact they’ll feel even more joyous as they find their efforts values and appreciated.

As a company gifting a notebook for some one who developed something for the community might be a small gesture, but it shows the person who developed that the company cares and acknowledges him/her (even a little).

obakesan good points but as Sharath_0-8 was saying we’re talking small gestures here, I’m not asking them to give a phone or anything like that, just a little bit more than what they are doing now…

Besides, they can decide if the work of a dev is worth to give him something or not…

I don’t want this to sound as a complaint, I’m really glad to make something for the community and I have fun doing it, I just thought it was a cool idea and wanted to share☺
