Inside Ear (open)
Amazing product. The best part for me is reading about Sound Seal System. Love the idea, truly top of the notch engineering.
As an Ear (open) user I have to say that every you see written about this is absolutely true. The sound is incredible, they stay in place while running (well what passes for running in my case). But I think the most impressive is the sound seal system. I also have the ear stick and even at maximum volume, it’s not a patch on the ear open. But when I am wearing a ear stick, people can hear what I’m listening to, but they can’t with the ear open. But what I got from the original post here was just how much though and sheer hard work went into creating it.
I don’t have anything to say, you guys do your work best but I would like to mention one thing that you might/can improve in this, the upper part can be a little bit blurry or the part shows the ear open when seen from upside make that clear transparent but the other part I think you make opaque, like the thing these look like awesome but in rough use like for over 3-4 months they might get scratch, then it might not look cool, and with that, you can change the colour too, instead of pure white you can add lil bit of blue like icey blue kind of vibe.
And one more thing I noticed is that you can make this much more compact, by dividing the battery into 2 parts maybe.
And these are my observations I don’t know about technology and all but I do appreciate aesthetics.
One more thing I would like to mention would be hinge positioning, the hinge is placed in the middle and judging from the length, I think there is a bit of misplacement it might break, so instead you can make two small hinges on both sides.
As I mentioned I don’t know much about interior tech, so I don’t know about the problem you might face. So I am guessing that you must have that in mind.
So in the end I would say I love these and the reviews I have heard from the YouTubers are good.
Keep up Nothing.
Well, this ain’t regarding the ear open. I am getting my job in March-April ’25. Before that launch, the Nothing Phone 3 please I want to buy that flagship phone.
Phone 2a is cool and all but I can’t do the video editing proficiently here and other tasks too.
Those insights into this radical new open wearable stereo product are just really enlightening. I like it that maintaining situational awareness always comes with great audio. Well, what is pretty awesome about this 14.2mm diaphragm, coupled with its unique titanium coating, is the way it really brings the sound fidelity forward, even on bass-heavy tracks.
Some additional design features include the 50-degree angle to ensure proper positioning of speakers, and a light weight construction of 8.1 g for every earbud: clearly an attention-grabber for those requiring comfort with one-earbud audio wear for long periods, whether in the office or while participating in extreme sports.
I am particularly fascinated by the fact that the Sound Seal System ensures no sound leakage during an absolutely private listening experience, without isolating the user from their environment. It has some extra convenience in thoughtful gesture controls through Nothing X app.
For the giveaway , That’s the great way to reach out to the community! I’m sure so many would be very interested in getting to know this new product.

Excited to see the launch of Ear (open)! Open design blended with premium audio quality is absolutely impressive. I like how it keeps us attentive to the surroundings while delivering fantastic sound. The tech behind the 14.2mm driver along with Sound Seal System sounds revolutionary! Can’t wait to try them out. Thanks for the giveaway opportunity!
Rob It is fascinating how Nothing shares a teardown of a product so the community can get a real insight of it.
It was interesting to read the post and know about the Ear (open).
What I learnt:-
• The Ear (open) is tilted at 50° so that the speaker is placed directly over the ear.
• 14.2mm Titanium coated diaphragm which reduces distortion and reproduces crisp high frequency notes with great accuracy.
• One of the two mics is present on the FPC which has a touch sensor for various gesture controls.
Rob oof I loved the teardown. I had suspicion that I would not like the product when it was teased but u guys really changed my mind.
Rob This is awesome… the Fact that Nothing is one of the only companies explaining everything they are doing, not only blows minds, but also impresses the users on how delicate yet durable and how precise all the tech is.
One of the many things i found crazy awesome about this article, is the use of the flexible circuit board… i never knew that such and important thing can be used as a flexible part… which makes me rethink all the other tech that can bend… The Second thing that amazes me is how nothing utilizes every little space it has in a device… this reminds me of the Apple first ever ipod discussion between Steve Jobs and the engineers.. and the ipod being too large … he told to use the least space possible… this looks like an amazing practice of something like that … (i am not promoting apple … just saying how awesome the compactness is)
munim_falcon Thanks for the comment!

@Rob Thanks for sharing yet another interesting teardown
! I’m impressed by how it minimizes the sound leakage using mesh and directional speakers for achieving privacy. The explanation of how reverse sound waves are generated and superimposed to cancel out sound waves for precise audio transmission is really insightful
Ear (open) are best looking over ear, earphones. In these there is not ear fitment issue, because of its design. By this post, I learnt that each component is made for its work, but Nothing mixed it with there uniques design. A lot of engineering is behind this Ear (open), that we seen here in the tear down and how beautifully, All these small components are joined and designed, To make It a Master Piece Overall.
I am so excited to try these.
I bought this device for several reasons: they hold well and don’t fall out, a good microphone, they don’t put pressure on the ear.
I find it impressive how small and full of fascinating tech those are
