Nothing OS 3.0 | Phone (2a) Open Beta
Mukundh28 I suppose it is due to that same reason, a flagship is not affordable to everyone so isnt the same amount of people that has that device and for that reason, they preferred to launch it on the 2a first, because, if they sold more units of that device, which tend to be “normal” due to the pricing compared to the 2, they would have a bigger community reporting the bugs that may occur. And if the software is similar in these devices , they can ensure that if the fix the common bugs, then they only have to fix the specific device bugs. To make it simple, cheaper device, more people buy it, more people buy it, bigger community to report common bugs, common bugs reports, fix common bugs to make the base software. When the major common bugs are suppose to be fixed, then the developers can focus into more specific one’s, that when all the other devices came into the “beta game”. Think that all the devices have to run the same software (with slightly modifications due to hardware), but they have to ensure to give the user the proper experience they claim they’ve worked so hard for. So, it isn’t a bad approach to the beta topic, we just have to be a little bit more patient, and I’m writing from my Nothing Phone (1) so I know what I’ve just said
RavishKumar now we got a lesson, always buy a new budget nothing phones like 2a instead of flagship and expensive phone.
VivekanandKenganal you paid more. You are lucky not to be beta testers ))
D_J Avoid comparing Nothing to other companies; each one has its own unique strategy. Users shouldn’t assume that owning a flagship device automatically guarantees early access to OS updates. Remember, Nothing has a different vision from more established brands. It’s worth reconsidering your expectations when choosing products from any brand.
@“Natalie ”#p9840 looking forward for some camera update and photo gallery. Also new lock screen sounds interesting
those saying I paid more I want update first? what is it mate? a candy shop? there must be some reason, they wont just roll out randomly. and those who dont want to buy nothing phone 3 coz weird update lineup, pls switch , no one is forcing you.
people cant even be patient. its not like your phone is not working coz you dont have 3.0 and latest update. kindly chill out, we all paid, no one got a free phone here.
This is very tempting but I’m on the fence about it & will think about it for the next few days
Anonymous297 Their egos have been humbled, which is why they seem more concerned about not receiving updates first instead of embracing Nothing’s vision—gathering insights from their community.
Downloading as we speak - UK based 2a limited edition
Will Update any findings or bugs after install
What a kick in pants to those who got the Nothing phone 1 or 2 .. hopefully the nothing team has added more premium features for those phones to leave them last ..

edit: the more time passes, the more I think I should’ve chose iPhone 15.
Can you add glyph count down for Bolt app like Uber has ?
Does it factory reset the phone??
Anonymous30 a kick in the ass - when there are no updates at all. Like little children

Just installed OS 3.0, and biggest complaint by far is that Quick Look is only available on the default clock on the lock screen. Please add the ability to enable quick look on all clocks. Same goes with the date position, where it is now forced to be at the top, and not able to be on the bottom. Additionally, it would be nice to have both the default clock and date in the new sans serif font seen in other UI elements. If Quick Look won’t be added on other lock screens, please do allow for widgets such as weather or calendar to be added as a 2×1 widget on the lock screen for those who do prefer to have minimum widgets.
Would also like to add that vibrations sometimes do not follow the set notification sound, such as when I receive notifs from X (formerly Twitter). Unsure if this occurs with other apps or not.
Desperate for Felica
SHq The Satellite Connectivity feature was confirmed by Carl Pei at Mobile World Congress 2023. You can look it up online. And yes the Satellite Connectivity feature is in AOSP: Android 15. As for Gemini Nano, the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 already has an NPU (Neural Processing Unit) required to run AI on-device. And for the Circle to Search, it is purely software based and does not require special hardware.
