Just updated to OS3 today, and while itās pretty nice, I canāt help but feel like the phone has lost itās identity with the loss of the NDot font in large amounts. The font is very present in all of Nothingās marketing material - itās even in the header of this OS3 beta thread, and it seems to be in abundance on the CMF Watch(s) as well, so Iām just a bit curious as to the reason behind itās disappearance from the latest software update.
I do genuinely find it somewhat sad - the NDot font has been something I love about the Nothing design language, and it seems to have been replaced with a pretty generic serif font in most cases. Iām not sure what consensus is on this, as it feels like a step back, and bringing NOS closer to other Android forks rather than separating it from the crowd.
An option to keep it, especially on the lock screen would be much appreciated - the new clocks are very nice, but the original NDot clock present on NOS 2.6 is superior in my opinion.
It would be somewhat of a dealbreaker if the NDot font were to leave the phone entirely for me, so Iād just like to pick someoneās brain about this really. I have a sneaking suspicion itās due to localization difficulties but that would really suck to lose such an amazing font over.
Additionally, the new Settings makeover is nice, but I donāt really like the spaced and centered design - with each settings element being separated from the sides of the screen and from each other with an accent colour. The flat design of the previous app leaves stuff to be desired, yes, but the abundance of separators in the NOS 3 settings is no step forward in my opinion. Iām more than curious on to what other people think, though!
Regardless, the other aspects of the update I canāt complain about - great work otherwise, Nothing Team!
