Hi everybody, and welcome to the Nothing Community! It’s good to have the forum live, and great to meet you all!

I’m Matt, and I look after social media here at Nothing, sitting with the UK team in London (or just outside the city in my case). I joined the company back in March, and it’s been wonderful being part of the processes involved in bringing a brand such as Nothing to life in the early stages, and seeing ear (1) come together. There are some really exciting long term plans, and the hope is that you guys will be an integral part of them.

There are so many pieces of technology that have wowed me over the years. I’m a big gamer, and so stepping out onto Hyrule Field for the first time in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time ranks pretty high for me. The original Kindle floored me. I didn’t understand how an electronic display could so closely emulate printed paper. And then more recently, things like Alexa and Chromecast, summoning music with your voice, or flinging a film from one screen to another. Kinect for the Xbox One was poorly marketed, but I did love the way it made me feel like I was Tom Cruise in Minority Report.

As a man with big hair and a love of rock, the Fuzz Factory is my spirit gadget, and also formed the basis for my original online handles. 😅 I’m looking forward to getting to know you guys and seeing what you make of ear (1)!

    Nothing community what is up! Great to be here and even better see all of you here!

    I am a senior software product designer at Nothing based in the London HQ. I am from Hong Kong originally, but have been studying and working in the UK since 2003. I have worked on a lot of different things, from banking apps to national security platforms and many others.

    I joined Nothing for the same reason why a lot of your have invested: the vision to make technology feels like nothing. As a designer I know how easy it is build something new and shiny; it is not easy to obsess over the smallest of details to design a truly intuitive and delightful user experience. It is easier said then done, but I am very fortunate to join a company and a team to think the same way.

    Name a piece of technology that dropped your jaw: Dyson handheld vacuum cleaners. It turns something everyone hates to do into a delightful experience. The satisfaction of seeing the dirt being collected by the transparent cylinder - magical.

    What’s your favourite movie quote, or lyric from a song: “Yippee ki yay, ____________” Bruce Willis from Die Hard. Sorry I could have come up with something a bit more sophisticated, but this is just so classic and epic!

    Tech that I resonated the most with would be the iPad. It enabled my creativity with a sense of purpose.

          Hey everyone! My name is Gabriel, and I’m from south east London. I used to be a big fan of OnePlus (though I lapsed after the OP3) and was intrigued when Carl announced he was leaving. I’ve been eager to see what comes next, and be a part of that journey. I think even though OnePlus isn’t what it once was, the ideas that began it all were bold and amazing, and I’m hyped to see where Nothing goes.

          My favourite piece of tech was that Nokia phone they marketed off the back of The Matrix. It was so cool, just because it had a slidey bit at the push of a button. We had no idea what was around the corner in 199, we just knew that badasses in long coats wearing shades and doing bullet time martial arts had these phones, and that made them cool. 😅
