Derren

Hi Derren, thanks. Nice to meet you too !

I would mainly say: the unique design and quality of Nothing’s products, the ingenious Glyph interface, the overall philosophy of the products offered… 🙂

      1. I live in Portugal although I am originally an American.
      2. I had been researching phones, figuring to buy a new one in January, kind of settled on Nothing, but my last phone started having location and battery problems and decided to get the Phone (2) last weekend. The Nothing phone just seems exciting at a time when mobile phones have become more and more uniform. I’m old as dirt and having been using mobile phones since 1989 (Motorola Flip Phone that cost $1800, company thought I needed it) and worked in the phone business from 1990 to 2014.
      3. As I said, I’m old as dirt, hard drives that fit in a personal computer wowed me beyond belief.
      4. “Heaven is a place where Nothing ever happens.” Couldn’t resist.
      5. I don’t have a spirit gadget. I have a Frida Kahlo doll on a chair facing me in my office, something of an inspiration, but she doesn’t have batteries.

      Hi everyone!

Nice to be here sharing our love for Nothing’s vision of tech industry!

      I’m Drex, from Valencia, Spain.

On my way to switch from an iphone 14 to a NP2, still dealin’ with it.

Nothing is one of the most exciting companies right now in the business, as an engineer, I’m excited about what they bring us in the future!

The piece of technology that really change my mind was my first ipod on 2008, the u2 edition, it was the beginning of a journey that has made my life path.

My spirit gadget is a DAC, i’m really a digital fan but also appreciate the analogic world!

      KR,

      Drex.

DrexMad Thanks for the Intro Drex, good to meet you!
I find the world of DAC quite overwhelming as a topic, I’m sure its easy to get super deep and technical.
Hope to see you around the community!

I am from the Netherlands moving away from a Sony Xperia 1iii.

Like the looks of the Nothing Phone 2 and the Glyph, but still prefer the shape of the Sony a bit better. 🙂

RXShorty Yo welcome, nice to hear you’re making the switch! The Xperia 1iii is a pretty unique phone, what devices did you use before picking that up?

              Rob ⚡️

              If we go way back…

              • Palm Treo 650 + 680
              • Palm Pre + Pre 2
              • Palm Pixi (love the small form factor)
              • HP Pre 3
              • Blackberry Q10
              • Blackberry Classic
              • Blackberry Passport (my favorite)
              • Sony Xperia 1

And some other work phones, which I prefer the Sony Xperia 10 series, small and long lasting.

The reason for the Xperia 1 iii was form factor and fingerprint reader on the power button because I always apply privacy screenprotectors. When these are applied the fingerprint reader under screen does not work anymore, which is my main negative point. 😇

RXShorty Eclectic lineup! I always wanted to try the Passport myself, super interesting form factor.
Interesting mention on privacy screen protectors, I know they’re pretty popular - I usually see them used on iPhones which of course use Face ID…is it possible for an optical fingerprint reader to operate with one applied at all?

@Rob ⚡️ Passport was the perfect phone for me. Touch sensitive keyboard so you can scroll and still use physical buttons. BBOS10 was also a great OS.

One I forgot to mention is the Jolla Phone, which was most of the time not useable for me. 🙄 Did use a Nokia N9 for a very short period.

Regarding the privacy screenprotectors I have tried all of it with multiple devices and it doesnt work or unreliable. Face unlock on the Nothing Phone 2 is good enough. If it only could be used as a passkey or such. The Pixel 8 does support face unlock for banking apps, so my hope is that Nothing Phone 3 will be on that level.

Or even better have a special cutout or non privacy part on the fingerprint sensor with a privacy screen protector. It should not much of a privacy issue as the fingerprint sensor is located at the very bottom of the phone. 😎
