    Hi,

I’m from the UK, I think the ethos and products of Nothing are very interesting and I’m hoping they’re going to shape the way technology is involved in our lives moving forward, making it less intrusive and more natural.

I once gave a friend a birthday present entitled ‘Nothing’ - it was just an empty plastic container with some fake branding on the outside. Now I’ve invested in Nothing, I feel life has come full circle.

In my day job I’m a developer, after previously being a teacher in Inner London, so technology is pretty close to my heart.

    Nice to meet you all!

    Heya!

I’m from Germany and followed Nothing for quite a while as you seem to have unique ideas and rethink the “tech”.

I’ve followed already a few companies and communities so I’m really excited to see where this journey leads to this time!

The first piece of technology which dropped my jaw was the Super Nintendo which lead me to my all time hobby: Gaming. Besides that, kinda everything which got more “smart”. For example my first smart bulb! Thanks to this I try nowadays to get the newest and smartest gadgets out there to try them out and see how they work or make specific parts of the life easier 🙂

    Hello everyone, greetings!

    I’m Shankar from Mumbai, India.

I use to be a voluntary custom rom developer, currently working as a semi-tech community manager. Custom rom enthusiasts always seek a balance between everything without compromising ‘nothing’ as many of the currently available OS(skins) lacks in various things. I feel Nothing’s vision has the potential to achieve an uncompromised balance. Having an unorthodox community-first approach and efforts to indulge with the community in such an early stage is like an industry-wide revolution and I am glad to be part of that as a community member!

Discovering audio composer in the first-ever phone bought by my father more than 15 years back was my first jaw-dropping moment!

Favorite quote from ‘The Falcon The Winter Soldier’ series and which can also highlight the importance of this Community Forum:

“Who’s in the room with you when you are making those decisions? Is it the people you gonna impact or is it just more people like you?”

Being a HAM radio enthusiast and VU2 license holder, ‘UHF/VHF repeater’ from my teacher Jayesh Sir’s HQ is my spirit gadget!

Namaste! (Indian way of saying hello.)

I am from India as you can predict from the first line, and apart from doing my studies, I am on a part-time hustle to understand the way tech impacts our life, the way it is indulged in the Indian market and majorly understanding and admiring technology.

I am following @Carl for a long period, and I admire his skills of thinking and marketing, moreover, nothing is all about tech and tech is something I cannot resist. Thus, it landed me here and the thought that the company presented about tech and cold innovations in the industry made me realise the potential nothing is talking about and with grand expectations I want to contribute the most in shaping the technology of the world. And as this community is all about shaping nothing, I believe together we can contribute a lot.

The piece of technology that dropped my jaw was iPod nano, although I never owned the device and has no ground-breaking innovations, it was something that indulged me in consumer tech and since then there was no going back.

My favourite movie quote is “Writing something last time, try to remember, if possible!” from a movie named “Kapoor and Sons”. The dialogue was so impactful as it was all about creating your impact in the world so that everyone remembers you in a positive way.

My spirit gadget is my smartphone, as it keeps reminding me of the reasons why I love tech and there is a lot to come yet.

    Hello Friends!

I am Peter, and I am a Swede living in Tokyo for the last 7 or so years, currently working as a Technical Project Manager in a retail tech startup.

Too much consumer tech these days trend towards common proven designs, so I am hopeful that Nothing’s approach will breathe some fresh air into the industry. I also like to use investing as a way to put myself closer to companies I like, so the opportunity to invest in Nothing from the start was too good to say no to.

I am also very excited to see this community grow and hopefully be a part of the whole story of the company going forward.

    Cheers!

      Hi everyone!

I’m from Italy and I’m truly glad to be part of this community.

There are not many tech products that impressed me growing up, because this is what technology is about: it’s an ongoing process; you grow with it and it grows along with you (until you get nostalgic). And yes, of course, I can tell you about the shining in my eyes as a kid when I first played the SEGA Mega Drive, or that very day in 2007 when I slightly tilted this new thing called iPhone and a marble on the screen started moving, or when - years later - I managed to wear a friend’s Google Glass and a new world appeared in front of my eyes. I’ve always been fascinated by these things.

But what really astonished me was not a piece of tech, it was an idea instead. Ten years ago, talking to a friend about how much we were already sick of the concept of smartphone, we came up with the idea that in 10-15 years there would have been no more smartphones, but new technologies that could improve our lives without carrying a brick of plastic in our pockets all day long. Well, of course we were wrong, now we carry even larger “bricks”!

So when I came across the Nothing project earlier this year, it was a real fulfillment. In a world in which every product is an improved version of the previous one, nobody stops and argues about re-thinking the product itself. Then I find this long-term perspective that makes Nothing the real difference and a big opportunity for us all.

      Cheers 🙂

      Hello Everyone

I am from India. I work as a product manager in a tech startup.

I have been a fan of the clear thought process and clean design thinking of @Carl for some time now. And the same attracted me to Nothing. When I read about the company I could see the clear vision of what the company is trying to achieve and that really made me interested in it.

The first piece of tech that made me drop my jaw was a wifi router. I was a kid when the internet arrived and I had always used it on a PC using a cable. And when I saw how internet could be accessed wirelessly my mind was blown away.

My favourite lyric from a song(it’s a hindi song, translation follows) is the following:

Khudi ko kar buland itna ke har taqder se pehle
Khuda bande se khud pooche bata teri raza kya hai.

      Translation:

Raise yourself to such a level that when God wants to grant you fortune, he asks you what do you want.

Somehow I’m not able to upload an image but my spirit gadget would be fire TV stick remote. Easy to use and highly functional.

Namaste , hello (Indian and global way of greeting)

I am from India , exactly from south India . I am currently pursuing my UG in Computer science stream and working part time as a Windows technical expert . The main reason for my investment particularly in Nothing is the experience and the way @Carl

made oneplus to excel as global brand within 10 years and the oneplus slogan NEVER SETTLE and they way they made those mobiles . I am also impressed with Nothing with the slogan removing barriers between technology and people . This made my eyes look on for this .

I always believe in challenges and risk . I knew Nothing will or will not be successful . But the challenge and risk associated will be beautiful .

The electronic gadget that impressed me the most is ONEPLUS 7 pro . Still one of the best design and mobile of all time

      Hi Nothing Community!

I’m Russell from Singapore, currently working as a doctor in the Emergency Department of the busiest hospital in my country, and I just came off a busy night shift. (Hectic times in the midst of a global pandemic - stay safe everyone!)

I work with ever-evolving medical tech on a daily basis to better patient care, and I’m intrigued by the idea of functional, well-designed tech that is seamlessly integrated into our lives. I’m excited to be a part of this community and I’m keen to see what Nothing will contribute to the tech space.

      Cheers!

      Hello from South Africa

Currently working as a chartered accountant at one of the largest service organisations globally

Working behind a laptop for most he day got me interested in simplifying the impact of technology in my life. You can say I have an unhealthy relationship with my laptop right now 😂

Hope to contribute to the growth of Nothing

        Hi Everyone,

I look forward to engaging with you all and growing our community over the coming month’s.

I am from London and work in finance. I invested in Nothing because I believe in their mission.

The gameboy colour was my first introduction into portable tech as a child and loved playing pokemon yellow on it 😂.

        Hi nothing fam,

        1. I’m Vikas from God’s own Country, Kerala. I’m one the guys in the video thumbnail of series 7 Bangalore launch highlights from a company @Carl used to head and was fortunate to see him there.

        2. I’m interested in nothing as i resonate with the principle of nothing. The innovation has been stagnant for the last couple of years, there’s nothing innovative or inspiring coming out these days, everything is just an update from the previous product. There should be innovation for better or for worse and not just updation. I firmly believe that a technology is at its best when it takes back seat and not when it’s on your face all the time. Also I believe in @Carl ’s community driven approach and has been a supporter of him since OPO, the OG flagship killer.

        3. The piece of tech that dropped my jaw would be the first computer i saw, and the evolution of computers and the environment around it has kept on inspiring me and has now made me a developer.

        4. Famous quote would be, “Great men are not born great, they grow great.” from The GodFather.

        5. My spirit gadget would be a smartphone, how much they’ve simplified our life. If I wanted to chose a smartphone, it would be OPO, the OG smartphone killer that the changed the industry. Not gonna post a pic cause I dont support the direction in which that company is moving right now.

That’s it fam, looking forward to all the bright days ahead of us. Let’s create innovative tech and have fun in the process.

          Cheers!

        Hi All! I’m Dylan.

I’m based in North Oxfordshire in the UK and am always impressed by the wide reach of companies! (Including Nothing)

I’m interested in Nothing since I was a follower of @Carl and his work since I got my hands on my OPO, but I’ve stayed around since I truly believe technology should work for us, not the other way around. Nothing’s attitude of blending technology into the background excites me tremendously as I see a real benefit to human connection when we can forget that technology is there.

The piece of technology that dropped my jaw was a Raspberry Pi/other microcontrollers. The versatility of such small devices being used in a wide range of applications astounds me (Such as a light pollution monitoring device that I helped develop at university).

My favourite quote/concept is probably from the book “The Ant and The Ferrari”. A very brief summary would be to think of humanity as the ant walking along the hood of a Ferrari, we have no true concept of what drives our universe, but we’re along for the ride!

I hope everyone is well and I look forward to seeing this community grow!

        Dylan

        Hi everyone!

I’m Ibrahim VK, from God’s own country Kerala, India. I am an Engineering dropout who runs an unregistered small website development company with my friends in my village. I make websites for small businesses. I live in a place where Whatsapp and Facebook is gradually getting adapted by the people.

I am a great fan of Steve Jobs. He is the one who built the tech industry and brought innovations to light. Steve believes in simplicity and perfectionism. When I heard about the vision of Nothing, I thought if Steve was here, he would be in the frontline of this vision by his extraordinary entrepreneurial skills.

The first product that I used and felt awesome was a Nokia phone, an express music version, which can produce sound nearly similar to that of Jbl speakers. I loved that.

I listen to Eminem a lot, and improved my English vocabulary through his songs. I love Eminem and he has inspired me a lot through the cold words of his rap. I love the song named ‘Beautiful’ of Eminem where he says,

"In my shoes, just to see

What it’s like, to be me

I’ll be you, let’s trade shoes

Just to see what I’d be like to

Feel your pain, you feel mine

        Go inside each other’s minds

Just to see what we find

Look at shit through each other’s eyes"

I use Oneplus Nord which i feel like a good product from @Carl . Thank you man for the product. I think it’s my spirit gadget now.

So, let’s all together put a dent in the universe. 😃

        Hey everyone !

I am Bhavik from India. I am currently pursuing BE final year of Mechanical Engineering.

I am highly enthusiast about investing. When I got to know about this opportunity. These 4 things came into my mind which inspired me to become a part of company.

        1. Nothing’s Mission to remove barriers between people and technology.

        2. Carl’s capabilities to build successful company like Oneplus.

        3. Nothing is Funded by many marquee investors, which includes one of my favorite Kunal Shah - A Indian entrepreneur.

        4. Kunal Shah : he is founder of “cred”. I know it’s looking out of context but there is connection to nothing.

        Here is how,

After selling freecharge for $400M , He started another company in 2018. Without introducing product they raised $30 M same as Nothing.

Reason behind that at this stage VC/people are betting money on team and their capabilities. In this case , Carl and Kunal both are having good track record of building company like freecharge and Oneplus.

Currently, Cred becomes multi billion dollar company. I am able to see that nothing will also become multi billion dollar company.

Here is my favorite quote from Scam 1992,

        “Risk he toh Ishq he”.

        Translation :

“Take risks to live life/work to the fullest”

The piece of technology that I really like is Smart watch because of its incredible capability to change how human interact with their devices.

Looking at Nothing strategy to enter high growth categories. I guess that 2nd or 3rd product of Nothing will be smart watch.

        Hey Everyone,

        Lovely to meet you all!

        1. I’m based in London, UK, and I’m excited to hear that the Nothing HQ isn’t too far away!

        2. Like many of you, I’m a tech fanatic and have followed Oneplus and Carl’s journey since the OPO launch back in 2014 - the first smartphone to really excite me.

        3. The most magical tech moment for me was opening a Nintendo DS on launch day - experiencing a touch screen for the first time and truly feeling like I was living in the future.

        4. I love the quote - “worrying means you suffer twice” - Newt Scamander

        Nintendo DS

I can’t wait to get to know you all and I’m excited to be involved in the early stages of Nothing.

        Rob

        Hey there!

I am Aravind - from a South Indian city called Kochi. Currently working with an Indian telco.

Quite passionate about consumer tech, social media, financial markets and crypto-currencies. I’ve been a follower of @Carl since 2014 and have fallen in love with the products he’s created since then.

Looking forward to be a contributor to Nothing forums and getting in touch with you all.

Hi everybody, and welcome to the Nothing Community! It’s good to have the forum live, and great to meet you all!

I’m Matt, and I look after social media here at Nothing, sitting with the UK team in London (or just outside the city in my case). I joined the company back in March, and it’s been wonderful being part of the processes involved in bringing a brand such as Nothing to life in the early stages, and seeing ear (1) come together. There are some really exciting long term plans, and the hope is that you guys will be an integral part of them.

There are so many pieces of technology that have wowed me over the years. I’m a big gamer, and so stepping out onto Hyrule Field for the first time in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time ranks pretty high for me. The original Kindle floored me. I didn’t understand how an electronic display could so closely emulate printed paper. And then more recently, things like Alexa and Chromecast, summoning music with your voice, or flinging a film from one screen to another. Kinect for the Xbox One was poorly marketed, but I did love the way it made me feel like I was Tom Cruise in Minority Report.

As a man with big hair and a love of rock, the Fuzz Factory is my spirit gadget, and also formed the basis for my original online handles. 😅 I’m looking forward to getting to know you guys and seeing what you make of ear (1)!

          1. London, UK

          2. Look forward to seeing what Nothing does with consumer tech 🙂

          3. Ipod touch 1st gadget I had

          4. We are Messengers I’ll think about you- “I don’t know where you are going but I’ll meet you there.”

          5. Laptop
