AmitPrakash You missed the fact that if you factory reset your phone in UK, you have a 50K paper weight. This is so BS, I got a phone yesterday and realised its India Only Sim and that sucks..

@AmitDeshmukh This sucks. I am thinking about canceling my order of NP2 as I travel abroad for work. What if I want to factory reset my phone when I am abroad, lol! So stupid.

Akhil_TrfkydYAp3 factory resetting your device will require you to unlock it again using a local India SIM.

Akhil_TrfkydYAp3 resetting the device frequently doesn’t make sense. This is a big lol. I will suggest everyone who travel to abroad not to choose Nothing phones.

If I carry my Indian Sim while travelling out of India, and if I had to factory reset NP2 out of India, will it work?

Or do I have to be physically located in India with an Indian sim card to activate NP2?

Akhil_TrfkydYAp3 As Chris mentioned you have to be on an India network with an India SIM, as far as im aware you cannot use a roaming SIM outside of India to complete this process.

Hi Community,

I have purchased nothing phone 2 India variant. I flew to UK without activating it .

I have a valid India sim (Airtel) with validity, international roaming plan, data and SMS balance. When I try to activate, it shows insert a valid India sim. I am unable to activate it.

Any leads? please help me out.

Please see the conversation above, the India SIM only variant of Phone 2 will need unlocking on an India network with an India SIM (Local, non roaming) before being able to use it in other regions. This process will need to be repeated should you factory reset the phone.

Couple of questions to community.

Does the phone use internet service/ sms for activating it?
any information if Nothing has software to unlock it using a PC or ADB commands something of that sort?

I have finally canceled my order for Nothing Phone 2 because of the region lock. Got the OnePlus 11R instead.

This is stupid. What if you have to factory reset your phone while on a buisness trip. You end up with a glorified brick.

If the phone had a list of Indian sim cards and would activate if it was inserted would still be fine but this is a joke of a solution.

I purchased a Nothing Phone 2 in India and currently use it with my Airtel SIM card. I will be traveling to Japan next month and want to know if I can use my phone with a Japanese SIM card during my visit.

I work on ship. I brought nothing phone 2 in india. It got reset after unrolling out of beta . Now its asking for indian sim and signal.how to unlock without it.since i will be 6 month out of india.

Please see the information above. India SIM units will need to be unlocked with an India network SIM (local, non roaming) before use in other regions. This is also the process if for any reason you need to reset your phone to factory settings.

Since you’re not in India at the moment i suggest getting in touch with support to see if they are able to assist.
