I thought to share my experience because my emails were replied like chatbots. This community should know something about QC and after sales. I don’t want new members to suffer my fate!

I had jumped to Nothing Phone (1) from Poco F1 after using it for more than 3.5 years. Got myself Phone (1) in January 2023. Initially there were many hiccups in this phone for let us say about 8-9 months but I was really happy with new updates and finally with Nothing OS 2.0, I was really happy with my phone although had certain issues right out of the box like one out of 20-25 times, the device wont get charged when plugged in although showing charging and even kept for hours. Once and twice I thought might be my problem that I am doing something wrong but then I realized it is the actual problem with device, be it wired or wireless mode. Secondly, another issue I faced was of lagging when launching camera from Whatsapp. It took a good 3-4 seconds lag the first time and from next time onwards, it would work well. Thinking that these were minor hiccups, I never contacted the service centre. Tried generating bug report but dont know, if they cared. Apart from these issues, I loved the overall experience. Coming from MIUI, Nothing OS felt awesome. I really loved the device and never wanted to go back to MIUI.

But sadly in the first week of July my phone was sitting on my desk, I picked it up and found it dead. Went to service centre and boom they sought about INR 18K for dead motherboard for the device which I had got myself for about 27K. Used only for 17 months and few days and my device was dead. Out of those 17 months, half of the time it ran on half baked OS as we all know. Still, no support provided from the company. After tonnes of emails exchanged between me and Nothing execs, I finally gave up and went back to my previous phone, the POCO F1 which I was using as a secondary device. Finally after my mighty POCO F1 completed about 5.5 yrs of service and I needed an upgrade very badly.

Although after very bad experience with service received by Nothing, I still gave a second thought on going for a CMF Phone (1) or a Nothing Phone 2a, also Nothing Phone 2a plus because I loved Nothing OS. Then, I gave a third thought and went for a POCO X6 5G although I hated MIUI (now renamed to HyperOS and its still bad or worse) only because of my POCO F1 which I am still using as my secondary device till date. The device has never given up.

I understood that these people are not going to help anybody. Their quality control really sucks. Emails although replied by people, seems like chatbots. Perhaps, I may not go back to Nothing again because of these issues. Just saw Nothing OS 3, I badly want to use it but sadly, I can’t get over it now. Wasted my hard-earned money, contributed towards building a new brand and in return, this is what I get. Betrayal!

Note: Just last month only, I gave the dead Phone (1) to a local fixer and he fixed costing me INR 3.5K (had some repairs on motherboard ) but sadly after a week, it went dead again. Couldn’t recover my data. All lost. I gave the device back to the fixer and told him that I dont want it back anymore. It would be an e-waste sitting in my desk so if you can use its parts, use it for any other betrayed person like me. Already I have lost enough money.

Anybody else faced these kinds of things?

Totally get how you feel. I bought the phone 2 6 months ago. Attracted by the good reviews for the OS and wanting to support a new player in the industry. However problems started surfacing one week into using the phone. Multiple instances of the Phone 2 crashing and having issues rebooting. This went on for awhile until a new update was installed. A couple of months ago the NFC payment stopped working. NFC transactions wasn’t able to go through but the NFC does not seemed to be damaged. Contacted technical support through their online form and all I got was a email saying they would try their best to respond within 24hrs. To date I have sent 3 tickets but have not received any help. I’ve already given up hope that they will provide any assistance. Having serious thoughts about whether to support the next phone 3 due to the bad after sales support and poor reliability. The glyph function proved to be of no use to me other than for aesthetics purposes. Something I could trade-in for better quality phones and after sales support.

Looks like they have deployed bots to keep such posts away from community posts

So there are faulty devices with every manufacturer. Nothing is a small company and probably not has as good quality controls as Samsung or apple. So faulty nothing devices are more likely.

Anyway if you encounter issues like the charging one you described it’s clear there is something faulty with your device and I bet nothing would be more helpful if you contacted them earlier. They can’t tell how you handled your phone it it’s 17 months old.

Anyway as nothing is growing they will up theire service too.
