Hi and welcome to Essence: Crafted for Nothing.
To start this project we want to begin with a not so well known world: Voice synthesis for singing.
you may know the classic alternatives like vocaloid or utau but these are only found in desktop applications, not available on android or are paid.
for this reason we have decided to create an app that allows the artists of the community to create their own songs or make covers of their favorite songs inside their nothing devices with a beautiful and optimized interface.
as previously mentioned this app is a voice synthesizer for singing which we have named “Step.1” as it is the first of a series of apps oriented to artists and creative minds in the nothing community.
our goal with Step.1 is to shake up a bit the world of community concepts with an app out of the ordinary with a groundbreaking design but with a remnant of nothing software design because at the moment all apps are limited to copy what has been seen before (dot font present in every text element, monochrome themes, etc) or to replace existing services with a nothing theme which is not bad, it’s amazing what the community achieves but we feel it’s already over seen.
we also want to take a risk creating something different in terms of design to give the community the feeling of freedom to create and not limit their creativity for not looking “Nothingy enough” we know that the design of this app and the ones that (hopefully) will come in the future from Essence will not be for everyone but we hope you like them.
Step.1: Re-imagine Nothing OS
now, talking about the app itself and the progress in its development we want to show some wips of the ui which is what we have at the moment because the team is very small (me, sometimes we are 2… 3 if I feel bold) but we are striving to deliver something great and beautiful (although if you wish you can contact me if you would like to collaborate in areas such as development, female voice provider, beta tester, etc).
Looking at this you may be saying “this doesn’t look like nothing at all!!!” Or “there’s too much color here” but that’s the point, to have a design that works well in nothing os while we build our own derived design identity and because of the type of apps we want to offer it’s new in nothing we find ourselves in the situation of breaking rules, grids and guidelines that allow us to adapt the functioning of these apps to the design of nothing
There are no official apps related to drawing, music production or video editing like what we are doing so we have to adapt the design of nothing to new elements and formats, we take this freedom since in this type of apps nothing is written.
thank you so much if you readed all this and i’m looking forward to your thougths and questions, this could be the beginning of a bigger project full of apps for creative minds like you and me!
